Why is the Caribbean so expensive?

There are so lovely islands in the Caribbean Sea but some of them are really pricey destinations. Perhaps the islands off Central America are much cheaper like the Ba Islands off Honduras, the Corn Islands off Nicaragua and the San Blas Islands off Panama.
Have you been to the Caribbean?
If so where?
If not where would you like to go? Cuba, Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Tobago,

Hi maximax8! if I would really have the chance and if I can afford it, I really want to visit all those places..Cuba, Jamaica, Antigua, Grenada and Tobago but if I can only afford one destination, I think I will choose Cuba because of its old world charm. The old buildings are still intact, vintage cars roaming around the city, very laid back lifestyle, the people look friendly and nice and not to mention the beautiful beaches. Well, that is what I have seen in Travel and Living Channel.

i dont know maxi or maybe it has to do with the location thats why its expensive.i would like to go to Jamaica,but only dreams
