I planted a tree in memory of my Father

My father passed away 5 years ago and I have been wanting to make a donation to his favorite charity every year. Something always comes up where I don't have the money or I forget, or whatever. But this year I was actually thinking of it while I could afford to make the donation. My father loved being on his boat - and realized his dream of living on his boat for the last 2 years of his life. His favorite place to be was cruising down the Chesapeake Bay and he was big into the preservation of it. So, last week, I finally made my contribution to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. With your donation, they will plant a tree in memory of your loved one. This will help the preservation of The Bay. Hopefully I'll remember to do it again next year!!! Do you make contributions to a charity on a regular basis in memory of a loved one?

I give $15 dollars a month to the mini farm that I volunteer for when they have classes at. I do it for the animals knowing they give so much for the community.

You know what?? They appreciate what they can get, and they usually understand when you have to take care of yourself first. I know you'll get back to it as soon as you can!

What an awesome way to honor your father! I think you found the perfect way to preserve something very close to his heart and one that he would appreciate. I bet he is looking down on that tree (and you) with a big smile on his face! Take care!

That's an awesome thing you have done. I can't say that I have but a very good idea to do something such as that.

It's part of donating to his favorite charity - the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. When you make a donation, you can have a tree planted in the person's memory. My sister wishes she knew where the tree was though so she could go see it!

that is awesome. im so very sorry to hear about your father. i think its sweet and thoughtful that you are doing this in his memory. im sure he is smiling on you from somewhere. yea every year we have a relay for life which helps find the cure for cancer. my entire family donates and buys candles for my moms father who passed away when she was nine from lukemeia. i never thought to plant a tree or anything like that from a donation but its a really nice thing.

That's cool that you help out for the Relay For Life. I do the 3-Day Walk to raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation. It's actually a lot of fun!
