Can opener! I moved to a new apartment in July of last year and for some reason in all that time I did not use a can opener. So I found myself needing one. Well all can openers are alike so I went to a local dollar store to get one. It worked the first time but only works occasionally now or part of the way. It gets very frustrating if you got several can you need to open in order to make dinner. I ask my neighbor to borrow theirs. They have an electric one. When I tried to use it, the can would fall off. More frustrations! Well I got out a very good knife I had an opened the rest of the cans except one. Somehow I found the opener I originally had before I moved and used that to open the last can without any problems. How about you - what is your experiences with a can opener?

their great for opening up oysters, flip the oyster over put the pointy end of the opener in the indent of the shell and pop it's open. no knife blade to worry about.

Wow, I never thought of that! I almost always get stabbed with a knife. Thanks!

I've been using the same hand can opener for a very long time. I only rarely have problems and that is when some can has too thin a lip or something so that it is hard for the can opener teeth to bite. My ex-wife had to use an electric can opener even though it often gave problems and making a mess was more likely. She just refused to use a hand one no matter what. She would really have had trouble with the little mini one that we used when I was in the Army that had no turn wheel but you advanced it around the can in steps on your own and it had a swing out blade. They were called by the name of P-38; I don't know if that was official or something that someone made up and it stuck. I carried one in my pocket for a long when I was in the service and then one day some how the blade swung open when I was playing pool and I leaned against the pool table and it stuck me in the leg enough that I actually had to reach in my pocket and pull it out of my leg. I quit carrying one after that.
