So I just watched this movie for the first time. It was interesting but I didn't like the way it ended. Pretty unresolved which obviously sets up for a sequel. Have they made another one or is there going to be one in the works?

According to wenn.com, production of the sequels have been put on hold because of the economy. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0934963/news#ni0587270 Personally, I think they are foolish to drop the trilogy without the second and third stories. But my opinion doesn't really matter.

Unless the first was a flop, which I don't think it was, they would kind of be foolish not to make the others unless there really is no money to be made on them.

The first one made a profit but not as much as they were expecting. They spent $180 million on it and made (as of October) $370 so that's more than double... and undoubtedly more since then. Plus, I know it's increased sales on the books (I bought them and so did a couple of my friends).

The Golden Compass is based on the book by Phillip Pullman. It's part of a series, and there's a few books that continue the story, but I don't know if they will be made into movies, too.

In my opinion I think there will be a part 2 of this movie. There where still questions that needed to be answered in golden compass. Unresolved storyline.
