a realist?
Are you more the type of person that spends most of their time day dreaming and/or dreaming of what has been, may be, could be and searching for ways to achieve what you dream of or are you more of a realist and figure that life is what it is and you will just accept it, come what may, and not try going after your dreams because you feel your dreams are unattainable anyway so why try?
If you are a Dreamer, what types of things do you dream of? a
Or if you are a realist and not a dreamer why not?

Hi Greeneyedlady, I think I have an even balance between the two really, when I was younger my one goal/dream was to live by the sea and I never gave up on that and in 2000 managed to make that move. It feels like it is where I belong, I left a lot behind and some would say I had been living in a dream world by thinking I could just up and leave and start again but I managed to. Datdreaming though, I guess at times my mind will wander but the what ifs never work and I believe if you want to make a dream come true you have to work hard to attain it. I think the only thing I would like and is not necessarily a dream as such to to have a happy relationship with a partner but I have my wonderful children and have been on my own so long that I don't even know whether or not I could put up with having a man around the house as I have become very independent, but who knows what the future holds there eh. I hope you had a lovely weekend with your hubby and were extra spoilt. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie!
I always swear we are twins, we always seem to think alike!
I also think I have a good balance between real life and dreams or goals. My goal in life when I was young was to go to Europe and lo and behold I made it! And then I dreamed of living in Holland with my hubby...and I made it! Then my goal was to live in a nice, quiet peaceful place and guess what? I made it!
But I was like you, I had to give up a lot to make the move half way across the World and heaven forbid I end up in a country that speaks a different language which was always my hardest subject in school but I do manage to get by...once in a while!
Now as far as you and that special someone is concerned...I do not say this to make you feel better but I have known you for a while now and how caring you are and I foresee this happening to you...personally I think you just have not met anyone worthy of you yet as I think you are a bit of a softie, but I honestly think it will happen when you least expect it and with who you least expect it to be! ;)

Hi GEL, my version as Greeneyedlady just too long for me to keep typing LOL. Perhaps we are similar because of both being Earth signs so although we have our dreams we remain realistic at the same time with them eh! My family surname originates from Middleberg in Holland although not blood family as I took my step grandfathers name when a baby but the closest I have got to visit Holland is the Fenlands in England, similar terrain. I am pleased that you are where you always dreamt you would be. As for the fell, we'll see but yes probably when I am not expecting it will happen, spend too many years helping and fixing others so concentrate more on me these days which I believe is selfish but in a good way so perhaps I am nearly ready. Thank you for your kind words. Love and huggles. Ellie :D

From what I know you are a kind and giving person and have been for a long time so I think it is time to start paying attention to yourself. I know you will always do for others but it doesn't hurt to do for yourself either and once in a while let others work out some of the things for themselves, it's not selfish at all, and I am sure that everyone knows you would be there if they really needed you!
I think a lot of times things happen when we least expect it and I also believe that when you are a kind and giving person then you will eventually get back what kindness you have given to others! ;)

I am a realist, the reason i say that is because i am realitic of my dream and goal that i can fulfill and achieve based on my personal ability and situation. My approach toward them is pragmatic and usually reasonably attainable .

If i was born in a very wealthy family or royal background, then probably i will become a dreamer, as i can afford to chase my dream even it is impossible to attain but never mind, the very fact that i have those wealth as my backing will make it very highly attainable in our world today. I think whether a person is a dreamer or realist has a lot to do with upbringing and family background instead of IQ.

I agree, if you are wealthy then you have more chance of your dreams coming true, if your dreams are attainable at all. You can afford the time and money that it takes to chase that rainbow so to speak and I also believe that being a dreamer or realist has a lot to do with your upbringing and background. Most of the time people that are from a very strict, realistic background do not end up chasing dreams whereas if you were brought to to go out and get what you want and anything is possible I believe those people are more likely to be dreamers. ;)

I think that is a good way to be, some people are dreaming all of the time with the most unreasonable dreams that they can probably never achieve and I wouldn't think that would be very healthy because you are pretty much doomed from the start with such dreams and it must be depressing to always fail! I am much like you, I dream but normally it is something that is attainable, I don't see shooting for the stars when you can't reach them!
Thanks for responding! ;)

I'll rate myself as a dreamer.
I have found myself chasing same thoughts day in and day out and at the end of it all realized I wasn't living there but want to be there. As such I have done nothing to accomplish them but I will.
Can't tell my dreams here.

It is a known fact that if you don't do something to attain your dreams then they probably are not going to just fall in your lap. So I say if your dreams are something that can in fact be gotten and you want to attain them then now is as good of time as any to start going out and trying to accomplish them as it may take a while and the longer you wait the harder it may be to attain them!
Good luck in attaining your dreams and thanks for the response! ;)

I'm actually a bit of both. You might say this goes with the principles I believe in like Law of Attraction...the idea of "visualizing" what you want in life, so in effect daydreaming it, or as a great visual aid making up vision boards, which I literally have all over my apartment. If you don't know what vision boards, it's this. The idea is to take a stack of magazines and cut out images of the things you would like to see manifest in your life..the dream home, the perfect car, travel, money...whatever, then cut them out and paste them on a poster type board...I have one in my bedroom and it's the first thing I see when I wake up, I have a gigantic one right alongside me here near my computer desk, I even made up a "virtual" vision board and use it as a screensaver on my computer. Now while it's all fine and dandy to daydream, visualize...one has to be a realist to DO things that will help bring one to one's goals. In other words, "visualizing" or daydreaming about being a famous author is "nice"...but if one isn't actually sitting down and writing that "bestseller" it's not going to happen...want more money in your life? Then yes, nice to daydream about being a millionaire, but just daydreaming about it ain't gonna make it so...it may take baby steps...like perhaps earning extra money on-line by writing articles...it might be small steps but it could bring one to the desired goal eventually.

Hi Pye! I have heard of people using those vision boards and I think it is a good idea, when you do things the way that you have described. Get out and Do something about reaching your goal rather than sitting behind the computer and staring off into space daydreaming about it because I have never heard of someone you don't know just knocking on your door and handing you a "new car", "dream house", "best seller" that you haven't actually written or anything else like that! And baby steps is definitely the way to go!
Good luck with achieving the things on our vision boards and thanks for responding! ;)
