Jury Duty - Have you been and would you like to?

I'm about to leave for jury duty. This will be my first time. I live in a small rural county, so I know the cases won't be that exciting. The only other time I was called up for jury duty was when I was living in Ireland. My Dad has to call up and state that I was out of the country. Thankfully, my Dad is a retired police officer, so he knew what to say and all that. If it wasn't for the fact that I own my own business, working from home, I would love to even be a juicy case that requires sequestering, but I know that opportunity won't come up and even if it did, I couldn't do that because then I wouldn't have the money for rent and utilities. And those creditors do not take "I was on a jury for x number of weeks, thus I do not have money to pay you" as an excuse. LOL So, have you done jury duty? If so, was the case boring or interesting? Were you sequestered? Would you like to be on such a case? If you have not done jury duty - would you like to? What kind(s) of cases would you like to be on a jury for?

I got a letter last fall saying I would be in the jury pool for three months (October, November and December) and that if I was needed I would get a postcard in the mail. First week of December I got a postcard giving me a number to call on Dec. 17th with instructions on where to go and what time because I was needed on December 18th. I was quite nervous but kind of excited. So December 17th comes around and I call the number. It says " Your service is not needed for tomorrow. The case has been resolved without the need of a jury. Thank you for your time" Something like that. So I ended up not having to participate. Part of me wanted to do it, but part of me didn't haha.

I want to get called for jury duty about as much as I want to get the chicken pox again. I have been super fortunate as to receive my jury notice 2 times. Where I live there is a phone number to call and they tell you whether or not you actually have to appear the day you were scheduled. Both times, I was told that I did not need to come in...yay! My father was once on a jury for a murder case. He wasn't sequestered, but he couldn't talk about it. It went on for about 10 days and then the defendant took a plea deal. So just like that it was over.

Thank you for your response. I guess because our county is so small, they have all those in the pool come in. There was about 50 of us for this go around. They have a list of about 5,000 for a 2 year period to pull from as needed. I have to call back tonight after 6pm to a recording to see if we are needed tomorrow or not. The judge did say to come in tomorrow, but the sheriff said to have them call. LOL Keep us in suspense why don't they!

I was not able to get out of being in the jury because of my home business. Silly. Ah well. I hope we do get a good trial though. Something with a bit of a stumper. I like a good mystery.

I've been called for jury a few times but have yet to make it. I doubt I ever will make it to a jury because I worked for 3 years in a law office. Most defense attorney's don't want someone with law experience on a jury....
