I made Oatmeal Scotchies yesterday

OMG were they ever good! I had no idea. I honestly had never heard of this kind of cookie until someone here on Mylot mentioned them (won't say any names...). Well then I happened to notice the recipe on the back of a bag of butterscotch chips, so I decided to give it a try. It was honestly the first time I ever got a real surprised reaction from my husband over anything, and the very first time I ever heard him say "Wow, OMG these are good". I said the same thing too. I sent a batch into work with him too, because his co workers are now demanding my cookies, lol! Have you ever had oatmeal scotchies? Have you ever been so surprised at the taste of a cookie you've made for the first time?

You have me craving these now. I will pick up butterscotch chips next time I'm at the store. And I'll write the recipe down.

It's the Nestle Tollhouse butterscotch chips. I should have thought to write it down, but I just wasn't thinking. Normally the recipes are always there, so I never think to write them down.

I found the recipe right on the back of the bag of butterscotch chips, and sadly, I didn't keep it. I expect it will still be there the next time I get butterscotch chips though.

I don't think I've ever made them but I have had them before. I liked them a lot too. You'll have to send me the recipe and I'll make them here. I should send something in with my husband too next time I make something. I'm currently trying to diet now though so I'm trying to avoid making anything like that. Best to avoid all temptation lol.

I didn't save the recipe, but it's on the back of the bag of Nestle Butterscotch chips. Next time I buy the bag I'll be sure to save the recipe. I do remember most of it, but I might get a little confused on the specifics of some of it.

Yup, I have made them lots of times before. Those are the cookies that Santa got this year. My kids, niece, brother and sister all enjoyed them too. There were barely enough left for Santa after they got their hands on them on Christmas Eve.

Very lucky Santa! I remember that discussion, and that was the first time I'd ever heard of oatmeal scotchies. I had no idea what they were, or how difficult it was to make them. Now that I have made them, I can tell I'll be making them frequently because we love them! On the plus side, they are so sweet that they aren't the kind of cookie you can eat tons and tons of. One seems to do the trick.

I have never heard of those but I do have a bag of butterscotch chips in my pantry so now I will have to look at the back. If the recipe is not there, do you mind sharing yours?

The one I used was on the back of the bag, and sadly I did not save the bag. If it's not there I'm sure there's a great recipe on the internet somewhere.

Hey kats! Those cookies sound yummy! I happen to love Oatmeal cookies and I love butterscotch so that combination sounds like it would be wonderful! I would like to try them too! I haven't baked cookies in a long time and I should because I don't like the cookies they have in the stores and they are all so expensive! I love Toll House cookies and haven't even made them in years! I will have to try these Oatmeal Scotchies!

I agree. I always have to have cookies around to snack on, and when I buy them instead of making them I stand in the cookie aisle at the store, not really sure what I want. The good ones (pepperidge farms!) are far too expensive, and the cheap ones are just not that good. But when I decide to make cookies, I have all sorts of mouth watering ideas! So many that I can't possibly do them all at once because that would be far too many cookies! My next idea is going to be a triple chocolate cookie. Chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, in a chocolate batter. Hubby will LOVE it!

hello katsmeow i have never made oatmeal scotchies before. not sure that i have even heard of an oatmeal scotchie before either. lol i like the taste of the butterscotch chips in different recipes thou, like those haystackes for one thing. they are delicious. i do not know if my two boys would like the oatmeal scotchies or not. my ten year old probably wouldn't even taste them to know if he likes the cookie or not. my eight year old would at least taste them to know if he liked them or not. lol thanks for sharing the information with us all around here at Mylot about how delicious that the oatmeal scotchies are. take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

I don't think I could ever have a problem getting one of my kids to try a cookie. That's just impossible!

I've never heard of those, but a combination of oatmeal and butterscotch certainly sounds very tasty. We had a guest who made some cookies the other day and they came out with a lovely chewy texture. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised, as I was expecting them to be rather dry as they contained so much oatmeal. I must get round to trying to make them myself.
