Simple Abundance-Gratitude

One of the books I use to teach an authentic-self class is Simple Abundance. I really adore all of her work, but they all revolve around the premise of Simple Abundance. The path is that when we start our lives with Gratitude, that leads to the other parts of Simple Abundance being: Simplicity, Order, Harmony, Beauty, and Joy. I have to say that following these tenants has helped to bring about a simple life. I've learned to indulge my inner child and grow her, I've found my authentic self, and taken to working on each of the tenants fully throughout the year. One of the first things suggested is using a gratitude journal. How many of you have a gratitude journal? What are the things you are most grateful for in your life? I keep a gratitude journal and try to make sure I write down at least five things each day I am grateful for. Today I am grateful for my children's welfare, my husband's generosity, my friends who have stayed with me through it all, our family's abundance, and the wonderful day I had today with family.

Hi Anora, What a great attitude! I just love discussions like this because it helps us realize the importance of gratitude and what it can do in our lives. I don't keep a gratitude journal but I like to count my blessings every day and may just decide to start one. Being thankful for what we have helps to open the door to more abundance in all phases of our life. Blessings.

Pose- Thanks for the kind response. I have to admit, before I started keeping one I thought it a bit child-like, almost silly in some regards. Then, once I started keeping one I started seeing the changes in my attitude about life. Somehow, the not so fun parts weren't as difficult any more. I'm glad you are finding abundance! Namaste-Anora

..thanks for sharing these ideas.. I was reminded of this thing because I really forgot doing this.. I know how it feels when we give importance to giving gratitude to what we have everyday of our lives.. We feel happy most especially when we wake up in the morning knowing that we could spend another brand new day to our loved ones and have the opportunity to reach our dreams.. Today, I thank god for the breath of life, for this new day, for my and my family's good health and for all the provisions that He pours to us..

Rayne- Thank you for sharing. It really is the spring board to enjoying life, when we appreciate what we have, who we have, and so forth right here in the present moment. I think it keeps us in the present moment as well. And by all means, I definately thank the Divine for all he does. Thank you for adding that. Anora

I have to admit I was skeptical about Simple Abundance when you first introduced me to it, but I have come to see that there seems to be a lot of truth to this philosophy. Gratitude is definately one of the best things to focus on cultivating, and I absolutely agree that it helps lay the foundation for the other ideals of simplicity, order, harmony, beauty, and joy. By being grateful for what we have, we begin to live more in the Here and Now instead of dwelling on the "Great Somewhere Else" we dream of. It only stands to reason that further virtues should grow from Gratitude! :)

Yes! It always reminds me of the scene in Empire Strkes Back where Yoda is saying that he's watched Luke for a long time and never was Luke in the moment, his thoughts were always somewhere else. There is a good lesson in that, because we miss the beauty of things. Thanks for sharing.
