Do you prefer texting, emailing, or good old fashioned TALKING?

My children text, text, text on their cell phones. I hardly ever see them actually talking to someone on the phone. I would rather talk than text, because it takes me too long to get my message typed in. Of course, I don't know all the abbreviations, and I am not fast like my kids are. Now, picking between talking on the phone and emailing is a different story. I would much rather communicate by email than by phone. So my preferences go like this: 1) Emailing 2) Talking 3) Texting. So what is your preference? Texting, emailing or talking? In what order?

I can be a real character, the life of the party, but I am only fun in small doses, in person. I think I am a much better person online. Simply because I can edit my text. My mouth often runs away with me and gets me into trouble.

Plus, I can talk my way into a hefty telephone bill, too. I already have the internet. Email is free.

really, annie, although we may not be good talkers, we have always been talking since childhood as we communicate with the people around us. thus, this art is something which has been ingrained in our system already. i am not a good talker myself. and, as you say, thoughts always haunt me later on if i am in a group of people and got talkative. "did i say the right words? have i offended anyone? oh, boy, i might have said the wrong words again!" but it is different on the phone, i think. whenever we make a call, there is already a specific thing that will be dealt with. so, there is not much problem there at all, about the talking i mean.

So, Annie, you agree with me that email is number one. I'm glad someone else feels that way. Also, it is much easier to type out a message on a keyboard than to type it out on a little bitty phone!

just like you, toofancy, i also prefer to be talking rather than texting. however, i have adapted to texting messages because, there are times when the message will be too short to make a call. i am also aware that there are times when i have to send a text message as the other person might be in the classroom and cannot be disturbed, or in a meeting where calls cannot be pushed through. in other words, i have already adjusted to the texting thing. as for emails, i have never ever adapted to this yet. once, when i opened my email, i found there so many senseless things. i never ventured opening it ever again. it has laid idle for so many years now.

I agree with you on all your points about texting. Short messages are easier to convey by text than by phone. And classrooms or meetings are best reached by texting. (Kids in school really take advantage of this.) And, I also agree about junk emails....I get so many more emails that are junk than ones that are actually personally for me. But, I am just used to that, and I keep them weeded out. If you haven't opened your email for years.....wow! I can only imagine what your inbox looks like! Thanks so much, trinidadvelasco, for commenting on my discussion! You made some good points!

Text. Email, and then Talk. Text messages are most powerful means of communication when we consider to inform someone at personal level. You would be astonished to know our local Police sends text messages to all of us regarding security measures. Besides, text messages have been used to generate public voice - like circulating messages communicating mass protests against recent incidents.

Nothing beats old fashion talking, but I do like emailing. I do not like texting at all. It is irritating.

.. I do prefer talking to someone on the phone.. However, with the demands of our economy, I have no choice but to use text messaging.. I don't usually use emails.. Only on some situations wherein I don't have the contact number of the person I need to communicate with, and I only have the email address.. I'd also love to talk with the person personally..

I work in sales, so I SHOULD love to talk on the phone. I have to pay extra to text on my phone, so it is not economical for me. I should seek out a plan that has unlimited text. I might get used to it then. Thanks for your reply!

You are right about that. Rather or not you want to talk definitely depends on who you are talking to! My list of people that I want to talk to is pretty short. :-) Thanks for your reply!
