What is area 51...?

I have heard a lot about this phrase being used in magazines and in one or 2 movies as well including the 4th july Independence day; but what intrigues me is the lack of information about the things and activities going around there.
If any of you guys have some information about this place; kindly share it here with all of us...

area 51 is military testing grounds. Its had a few functions over the years. Its been a testing area for weapons, and a testing area for new jet concepts. Over the years it has had a link to ufo activity from ufologists, who claim that the government was hiding a ufo from a crash that happened in roswell. There is also suppose to be the bodies of aliens hidden there. Today area 51 only exists in the imaginations of these people. It is still a guarded area, but of course due to its fame the actual testing facility has been moved.

DO you really think that all these stories are entirely baseless. Off course there must have been something to initiate a lead somewhere for these stories to propagate over the years.

One thing I've learned over the years is that our government is not very good at keeping secrets, and not as prepared as they would like everyone to believe. In a fantasy world where the cia is the best intel agency in the world, and our military is there at a moments notice, yeah something like that could be possible. But reality, no. If there was some crash with aliens most likely the nosey over protective "you get on my property and i shoots you" farmers in the area would have claimed it long before the military arrived. I think if there was alien craft in the area people are looking in the wrong place. They need to be checking the local farms. I'm sure the military just got what was left over.

I think you are right buddy. This does seem a pretty logiacl thing in the context of what we are talkin about. It all boils down to the fact that the local sherif of the area has to come to know before he conveys it to the higher authorities.

About that Area 51.... According to some articles at rense.com.... The Area-51 is a US Base Facility at Roswell I think somewhere Nevada or I don't really know where it is. Actually its a hidden base and a very mysterious base and highly guarded facility. I think those stealth fighters plane were made and tested over there in the 70's or 80's.
Have you watched or remember the "Roswell" that's it highlighted the mysteries of Area-51. And those are aliens and UFO stuffs. The mystery behind Area-51 was highlighted during 1940's or 20's or 30's. According to the mysteries, when Area-51 was already established during those years and testing a lot of scientific experiments. And there was this incident, that they have attacked some UFO by the US Air Force and gunned down those UFO. And recovered the space ships including those Aliens. (find and watched the movie "Alien Autopsy" I think HBO already showed that movie. Based on Area-51 Aliens recovered from the UFO).
Also those years, I think its before or after the Area-51 incident, there was this called incident or event called the "Battle of L.A." just read at rense.com and this one is also highly classified just like the incident on Are-51 at Roswell.
Others may say that its only weather balloons that have crashed on that site and not UFO with Aliens.

Thanks a lot for your valuable inputs buddy. I apologize for being in hibernation, as i was driven away due to some pressing family engagements back home. The UFOs and the presence of aliens is one thing that really intrigues me a lot about this area. After all, all these movies that have been made must have been based on some piece of information found somewhere.
