I have been stopped for three months. The thing that I did was I made it harder for me to have one. I use to smoke inside then moved it out to the garage from there I moved it to the driveway. It got to the point I didn't want to be cold just to have a smoke so I stopped. I hope you are able to find a way that will work for you. I feel so much better now and am able to work out.

I am a smoker before but i have stopped smoking for almost three months since the last time that i puffed one... what i did first was to give myself a few weeks to smoke.. afterwhich ireduced the no of sticks that i smoke from 10 to 8... until i reached just one ... and nothing... its hard you really have to impose self control onyourself.. for us guys .. we have to be a man!! we stand for what we have promised to ourselves that will help you.. family should also have a role in this.. if you have children think about them...l think about what will happen if you dont stop smoking... you have to instill fear inyourself of the consequences to your health if you dont stop... and lastly ... pray that is the most important you have to pray to God and ask him to have control of yourself.. of not smoking .. God hear prayers from people who are sincere... and one day you will be amazed that you did it!

I am not a smoker and I can say i hate that smoke. I think the best motivation to quit smoking is that you bother other people, specially the close ones. Me, for instance I always tell my parents they have to quit smoking because we can't take it anymore, it's just disturbing to breathe that smoke all the time. Finally they had to smoke outside the house, and now they are smoking less than before.

I think every habit is very difficult to quit. As you have get used to it for a long time and you are even addicted to it. My dad smoked for many years but he finally quit it several years ago. Of course it is not easy at all. Whenever he felt smoking, then he would go to do some housework and tried to forget the smoking. He kept on it for a week and he was not very interested in smoking very much. And the feeling wasn't terrible to be without smoking. After a month, he succeeded it. I hope it can help you.

Hi moneymommy. I also smoke and would love to quit too. The only advice I can give is choose your momemnt carefully, set a time to quit when you feel ready. It should be a time where there is little or no stress in your life, as stress tends to make you smoke more.
As other have said maybe use the patches or the inhaler products and try to break your daily routine, map out the times and what activities make you have a smoke and just try to avoid them.
Hope that is of help and good luck with quitting.

I too have been struggling with quiting smoking. I have tried cold turkey, meds and just cutting down...of course none of those worked for me. I think everyone is so different in how they are successful with it. I am now going to be trying the over the counter patches...I have heard from a few people that it worked for them.
See I don't have a problem not smoking when my boyfriend is around cuz we are always busy...its when I am alone and he is gone during the week that I struggle so much. I think it is out of the pure lack of something exciting to do.
Keep me posted...I would be intersted to know how and when you are finally successful! Good Luck!!!
