Will you look at the peep hole before opening the door?

There is a peep hole in the wooden door. But most of the time I don't look at it before opening the door. As I have another iron door. This is why when the door bell rings, I open the wooden door and the iron door is still closed. I can see who is outside anyway.

I used to check before I open the door. Problem now is, with the way I designed my door, even if I want to peep thru the peep hole, I cannot see anything! I too have an iron gate in front of the wooden door. So there is no problem opening the door to see who is on the other end when the bell rings.

Less crimes doesn't mean no crimes. One still got to be careful. It never hurts to be careful when it comes to the safety of your family. Prevention is always better than cure. So why risk it when you can prevent it.

My mother's house has a steel gate which is also the door of our house in the smae time and we have a peep hole there as well. We always look first who ever rings the doorbell. There are times a lot of strangers are knocking or ringing in our house asking for some donations. Our house is cute and maybe they are thinking that we are rich even if we are not. So we always look into the peep hole, if they are soliciting or asking donations, we don't open the steel door. If they are our friends and relatives, thats the time we open the door.

Here some of my friends even don't have the door bells because of the crime issues. As some sealers will check whether there are people inside the house.

My apartment door doesn't have a peep hole... but i would always peek at the window before opening the door... that is a much safer way... since when my husband is working abroad... there is only me and my daughter in the apartment most of the time...

I think in today's society all around the world it is always safer to err on the side of caution my friend, and if you do have a peep hole use it! There are so many unscrupulous people out there, fraudsters and those that prey on the elderly you hear of so many horror stories, that's why it's always imperative to get id of the person and check who they say they are! Usually you know when to expect someone and if you have guests they usually phone beforehand. We don't have a peep hole but we do have a glass door which is not ideal but at least you can see who it is. Or look out of the window first to see who it is. Better to be safe than sorry!

In our country, a peep hole is not very common, but we still check who is outside the door by looking out the window hehe. We usually have a wooden and steel/ screen door too.

my main door doesnt have a peephole.. but we have another 'glass-door' - and the curtain is usually drawn.. so whenever, we hear the doorbell - we 'peep' thru' the curtains (on our glass door).. i dont want to entertain 'salespeople', so.. if i see one thru' the curtains.. i'll usually ask my kids to say that i am in the toilet or too busy to come the door.. soo.. the answer to your question.. yes and no!... no because i dont have a peephole.. but yes, i will always look before opening my door..

I pretty much always look through our peephole in the door... mainly for safety sake. You never know and should be careful, especially if you are a woman & I am! I also usually say "Who is it?" before opening the door also, but I always first look to see if I even want to ask. Sometimes you can tell that it is somebody trying to sell something. If so, I sometimes pretend like I'm not even home. I hate trying to get rid of them after opening the door. Although, I do not mind so much if it is a little kid selling door to door for girlscouts or something like that.

Sometimes I let my husband to open the door. If there are some bad guys, at least they will know there is a man in this house and so that they may leave.

It depends on what time it is. If it is during the night I need to peep before opening the door though I have the iron grill I still need double assurance cos you might never know if that person is armed with a pistol and once you open the door he will shoot at you. How dangerous.
