Postage Stamp to go up 2-cents in May http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090210/ap_on_go_ot/postal_rates So stock up on Forever Stamps and save 2 cents per stamp. YOu pay 41 cnets for them now and they are good no matter how high postage goes. I stocked up on them last year before it went up and had enough to last the year. I just bought them when I had extra in my budget. Yeah, you are only saving 2 cents per letter and if you don't write many, it isn't probably worth the expense right now, but I write alot and send them USPS - I love getting letters... never get them, but I do love getting them should it ever happen! But I write to my grand daughaters - they LOVE getting my letters in the mail box! you'd think it was the newest new-fangled - up to the minute thing since Mario Brothers judging from their excitment when they open and read!

Have you heard that they may be cutting a day of mail? They are thinking of Tuesday as no delivery because that is their slowest day for mail. I don't mind the increases though. I still send letters this way and they are worth it.

Yeah, I had heard talk of that. I wouldn't mind. the only thing is that bills that come through that day for payment will be one day short of arriving but I guess since the bills give you a few "grace" days, just have the check ready to write and mail on Wednesday instaed of Tuesday! I'll still send letters. I will probably be the last man standing to do that, but I will do it. I write to my grand daughters and they just love getting the letters out ther in the mail box! Not sure if they like getting MY letters or just the excitment of opening hte mail box and seeing the letters there! Much more entertaining than getting email! Ever tried to wave an email around and jump up and down, saying "I got a letter from Nanny! I got a letter from Nanny!"

Another price increase. Maybe the government should have put the post office in the bailout to keep stamp costs down. I still think being able to mail a letter and get it basically anywhere for so little is pretty good. However, the use of email and text messages and such will just continue to decrease the amount of general mail people send meaning the post office will continue to lose money which means the price will continue to go up.

YOu got a good point there! Why didn't the USPS get anything in these bail outs! THey should have - they carry a huge weight of this country - I mean the USPS closes and we are in trouble! Emails and pay on line have drastically hit the USPS hard... that is really sad that progress has such a huge impact on something so necessary. I still mail letters and send packages. I dont' do online banking or bill pay - just don't liek my personal finacial info out there in cyber space. Yeah, the prices have risen every year for I think 3 years now.. and it says they are already set to increase again May 2010

What? Another raise? I think we just had one in Canada, and we had one in the USa a few months ago, or so it would seem. What the heck is going on here? Why is it getting so danged expensive just to send MAIL? The cost of postage is getting out of hand!

Went up May of the last 2 years but only 1 cent each. You can't blame the USPS... with all the online payment options, over the phone payment options, telephone contact as we don't have to pay long distance fees anymore, Text messaging and Email contact....mailing a letter and using postage is not necesssary as much anymore. But we can't shut down the USPS... it still carries the country. Someone mentioned some of this bailout money should have gone to the USPS - I totally agree. USPS did nothing to cause their loss - progress and innovation did that to them. If eeryone would go back to mailing in their bills and sending letter instead of emailing them.. that'd be a huge boost to the USPS... but of course no one is going to do that.

I just saw this today. I think it is crazy that the price is increasing again so soon. I try not to mail anything if I don't have to. I pay all my bills on line, so that saves me alot of stamps. I will have to go and get some of the forever stamps. Last time I didn't get enough and ended up having to buy the higher priced ones.

Read my above comments... doing what you are doing is why they had to increase postaage. Not their fault progress and innovation cost them their service
