Isn't funny how America was outraged about the mother with 14 children?

Before we found out anything about this chick, everone was like, "that's ridiculous, she's on welfare, she's waising my tax dollars; but now that she says she's not using any government assitance, every one is like, "she has all these kids and she's not using government money, what kind of mother refuses that?" I tell you, people are a trip these days. Nothing you do pleases anybody. That's why I say its always best to please yourself!!!

Thanks, I just find it a little silly to be outraged about what's going on with her, when there's soooo much more to be outraged about today. It seeoms as if people want us to be more like China, where you are told how many children you are allowed to have. And what's this thing with child protective services that everyone is bringing up? Is she hurting her children? Abandoning them on the street? Does anyone even know the average amount of embryos that are implanted to make sure it takes - for this very expensive procedure? The only thing that people know about this woman is what the media reports, and alot of what they report, start off as rumors.

Fourteen is an unreal number of small children. I just can't wrap my brain around that. I have two babies and they drive me crazy sometimes. I don't know how she and her mom can take care of all of them but God bless them if they can do it. It's just an odd story. I'm trying not to judge the woman because at this point what good does it do? She just had eight children and that's pretty amazing anyway you look at it.

She already had 6 children, wasn’t that enough for a big family? Even if she is not accepting aid, she is spreading out her resources too thin among 14 kids, rather than concentrate on the present 6 and give them better lives than they are having now. After all, raising children the proper way is not cheap and 14 kids would be a strain on any household.

No, I don’t adhere to any pre-existing tenets to determine the proper way for my family. For me the proper way would be to, as per my capacity, provide the best in schooling, food and clothing with some amount of fringe benefits thrown in, like maybe a vacation per year or a little splurging during the festivities. I don’t believe in extending the family and thinning out the resources or in aiming for better jobs and income and thus stressing myself more.

I can understand what you say about already having a big family, but what do you mean by the proper way? The american way? The middle class way? The "Amercian Dream"? Not every one's American Dream is a husband, 2.5 kids and a little house with a white picket fence. In rwanda, the average # of children in a family 6, in chad its 7, in west bank 5.6, Isreal 2.7, and these numbers haven't always been the same. In a country full of different cultural backgrounds, I believe it's safe to say what's proper for some, is always proper for all.

I think she's doing it as a publicity stunt to make money off it with a movie deal and story. She should not be receiving aid, etc. She should have to get a job like the rest of America. It's just sick, the entire story is sickening.

What kind've aid is she receiving? She said shes not interested in getting in welfare. She had a job and yes ddi get diability payments because she was hurt on the job, which is rightfully so. Thats money she was entitled to. It's funny how we claim to be this free society, but want to limit how many kids can be produced from one person. If she's having these kids and then collectimg welfare payments - thats one thing, but she's not interested in any of it. She plans to go to college and get her master degree, she wants a big family, has goals and is attempting to achieve them. She didn't start of wanting to have octuplets, but which one was she supposed to choose to terminate once it took? All of these were hers, why waste them, if you want a big family?

Pinkpanther- I've read the updates as they were posted by the AP wire online and the entire thing is a sad story. She doesn't work, she lives with her mother and there should have been a screening done before she had a fertility treatment, and anyone who has a fertility treatment in Beverly Hills should be able to afford to raise their children. And I don't see her refusing aide. In fact her mother, whom she lives with who cares for the first 6 children, stated her daughter not only receives disability (enough for any reasonable person to live on), also receives welfare. I'm sorry, but if you live in Beverly Hills, can afford a treatment in Beverly Hills doesn't need to be receiving aide, especially when the state departments all over America are denying families who really need it. I think American's have a right to be upset with someone who is obviously mentally unbalanced. Her interviews are evidence of her seperation from reality. And how is she being a mother? Personally I think child protective services needs to step in because if she wasn't able to raise the other 6, is she really going to raise and nurture the 8 newborns? You posted a controversial subject, though, so you should expect some feedback. Not everyone is going to agree with you. Just as not everyone is going to agree with me. Have a good one. Anora

There is actually nothing saying its against the laws, it's just unethical. These were her frozen embroyos from her previous pregnancy, why waste them?
