When they ask, can I take a rain check? Please define this meaning...

Let me give you a senerio, say we live near one another and I invited you over for dinner on a certain night but you can't make it so you may say to me, Can I take a rain check, it means, can we do it another time when it's more convient for you. I hope this makes some sense....

If you go to a store and they dont have an item in stock that you went there for you can often ask for a raincheck and they will give you a slip that you can bring in for a redemption when you have the item in stock. I think there are many things you do and say when you are getting a rain check.

it usually means they're interested,but either they're too busy,or do not have the finances to do whatever right now.it's not necessarily a blow off,they just for some reason have to wait on it.

I thing getting a rain check is just a way to still get the things you want even if the are sold out. If you go to a store to buy a toy that is on sale but the are sold out you can ask for a rain check so that when they come in you still get it at the sale price.

If you are in a store and they don't have an item that is on sale you ask for a "raincheck". That means that when they get the item in you get it at the sale price. A "raincheck" is just another chance to do something or get something.
