i just finished doing 2 free online courses on digital photography. I am also starting on reading some photography books. Still, I cant learn enough until I have the right camera on hand. A day ago I made a post here on mylot asking what dSLR camera to get. I know its gotta be nikkon or canon, but which one. Im torn between Nikon d90 and Canon EOS 50D based from the reviews I have read. I am kinda hoping I will get answers here too. But unfortunately, no one responded =(. I hope you get answers, I will surely benefit from it too.. and also, if you get ur camera, pls tell me if its good for newbies. and one more thing, have you heard of sigma lens, a friend of mine said its cheaper (it can also be compatible with canon and nikon). good luck. happy mylotting

Hi Lipstick, Before dishing out a bundle, try them out. Nikon are better for people who know the're stuff, canon are nice camara's too, im a canon user myself, but lately i'm rather impressed by the sony DSLR's, Great quality and value. As far as lenses go, It really depends on what your main subject of photo's will be....ie. a 105mm lense is good for portraits, an 80 - 200 mm for landscape, and 300mm zooms good for wildlife, also consider the range of Sigma lenses available from most main camara dealers

hello Adagio, I still have so much to learn on this field. I have a couple of friends who suggested nikon and canon and I've been reading good reviews about these two. But I am still open to any suggestions, if you think sony DSLRs are of great quality and value then I might look into that too. I am planning to buy the camera before May so I am still open to suggestions. As for sony dslrs, can you recommend a specific model? As for the lenses, I want one thats gonna be good for Food Photography, what kind would that be? Thank you for all the input. Welcome to Mylot!
