The Worst Teacher

Philippines

Okay, we've than the best teacher, now let's do- the WORST teacher. I have been having problems with my class this quarter. Not academically but with my professor. He just keeps on reading and reading what is on the book and he does not even explain what it means. He'll just read it and then done. I mean, he could have said, okay read pp. 1-100 and understand it on your own. Duh. He just keeps on reading it to us as if we cannot read it for ourselves. It would have been better if he would stop every now and then and even PRETEND to explain things, but he doesn't. So that for me is the WORST teacher that I've had so far.

I transferred to another college on my sophomore year in a city that's so far from where i live. (The story behind this is long so let's just skip that) And you know what? I had the same kind of professor too! And man, it was so frustrating! I could just have read it at home and save myself money from the commute! He happens to be the professor in all of my major subjects so that adds more to the frustration! Sometimes he'll call us one by one and read the stupid textbook for him. To make it worse, he was treating us like a bunch of kindergardens! He goes like this: "Ok class, so the organization's mission statement is to...?" And then we (no , actually my classmates) will respond: "to protect, guide, and serve the blah, blah, blah with the blah, blah blah" To make it worse, my classmates read aloud in a slow and kindergardenish manner and they seem to be so fond of it! It was crazy and terrible! I decided to transfer as soon as the semester break started. I just can't wait to get out of there before the weirdness gets into me!

To feel like you are a kindergarten student again is good- if only for a day or two. But every single class meeting? That is so irritating. It is good you lasted the quarter or semester you have to be in that class.

My worst teacher was my maths teacher. She used to hit us hard on our hands whenever any one made mistake in the class in any sum. It was really patheitic the way she used to behave with the students. I simply did not like her attitude.

Getting hit by a teacher? I didn't know that was allowed. But then, different schools have different policies, so go figure. I love Math-the subject. I don't like all the teachers I have in Math but my love for Math did not go away. Good for me because it really helps me now.

Yeah, I agree with you, unluckily you have a worst teacher in the class. I don't know why mentors like them are allowed to teach or even given the license to teach at all without the proper screening on their actual teaching skills. It's just so unfortunate to have them in schools because I believe, their presence is a major factor in the deteriorating academic achievements of students these days.

Teachers really affect what kind of students we have at the end of the day. We just have to deal with it.

oh yes, I agree with you, I also consider those teachers as worst, those who just read and doesn't explain well the lessons and when you ask them questions about the lesson, they would tell you that you're not allowed to ask, but instead they let you have a report about the topic without them having the first effort to make a research. When I was studying I guess I encountered teachers who keeps on talking very softly without us understanding what they say...

How can we not be allowed to ask? How can we fully understand the lesson? Well, some teachers are like that. I just pray that I won't have to deal with them all the time.

that's awful! I feel so bad for you and your peers. Can't you report him to the school board or something? The worst teacher I've ever had was this one who would randomly assign things for us to read or write, and he wouldn't even write it down to remind himself, and the whole class had different assignments, it was about 5 of us, so yeah..(:

We already talked to the Academic Dean. But then, I think since it's the middle of the quarter already, they don't want to look for another teacher anymore so we're kinda stuck with him til the end of the quarter. Grrrr.....

Wherever we are, there would always be teachers who are like that. It's a part of student life. :)

I had a teacher when I was in middle school that in my opinion was just plain evil. On certain days of the week he'd pull out a text book and explain to us how to work with the words in the sentence (he was an English teacher). So, instead of maybe showing us examples on the board he'd tell us and then go around the room and make each one of us talk outloud about what certain items in the sentence were. If we didn't understand and said something wrong, he'd start screaming at us because it was wrong and then tell us again what we were doing and then tell us to figure it out again. If you'd try again, he'd just yell at you again and then tell you the answer and complain the entire time about how we didn't listen. I hated that class. It was a terrible experience for me. I hated going to that class and was always nervous because I never knew what was going to happen next.

i think she is just complting her duty so as to get her salary but is not concerned wheather students understasnd the lesson or not. if it was possible to unerstand everything only by hearing or reading then no one should have gone to educational institution, u must make a complint against her. i think.

It's really bad having a teacher like such, you could just help him by reporting to the head or his superior. This can help him, probably he does not realise what he's doing is bad or wrong.Another thing to do is bomding him with questions after each lesson, this will make him sit tight or do some more studies.

Hello bubblyapple! My worst teacher is the type of being BOASTFUL in front of his student, making stories of like this that sometimes i couldn't believe his stories. He is also lazy when it comes to answering the student's question. Like this, when I ask him a particular question from a certain topic, he'll just say "that will be your homework" =)) I do not also like the teachers who read fast that they'll run out of breath. =)) Happy mylotting.

A friend told me once that if there is a teacher who tells you, "that will be your homework", it means that he/she doesn't know the answer to that question as well. S/He just doesn't want to exert an effort to try and find out or loose face in front of the class. But I guess that's better than teachers who claim to be the smartest and boasts about it.

Oh, I hate when teachers are not good at their job. I have one right now that she is the sweetest person outside of class (we have a dancing class together) but in class she is just so bad at being a teacher. She rambles on and on about pointless things and half the class is fighting to stay awake. A couple have even said that they moved seats so that if they did fall asleep she wouldn't be able to tell. I can't do that since I feel that she watches me more due to knowing me outside of class. Its just awkward and boring making for a very uncomfortable class.

There are really those who just keeps on rambling and going on and on even if they see that all of their students are half asleep already. I had a teacher who was like this before, I have to pinch myself just to stay awake.

Speaking of the worst teacher I had one during my secondary school. I was not very sure how to describe her in complete profile. However, at least every body in my class did not accept her as a teacher. The problem with her was that she was too emotional. Apart from this, she did not explain clearly. Furthermore, she always gave us a very difficult exam question despite that the concept explained was not clear.

Yeah, that's what I don't like about some teachers. They wouldn't explain things thoroughly and they would expect us to know what these are. We are left to our own. There are some people who needs their guidance in order to understand what the concept is.

The worst teacher I had was one of my college professors that couldn't speak English very well. She was my college algebra teacher and because of the language barrier it was difficult to get anything out of her.

I also had my worst teacher, who is as loike your proffesor. He just readout the book and tell us it's over.We have to understand that subject by our own.If someone had any doubt, and asked him in a class then he told that student to came to teacher's room in break timings. He again told to read....and asked 'do u nderstand now?'.We students tired of reading said'yes sir.' In this way he taught us for a year...

When professor asks "do you understand?" without them explaining, it's like you want to shouw "HELLO?! You're not even teaching us!". But then we are the students and we don't want the teachers to get upset on us so we just say, "Yes" even though we don't mean it. The sad life of students.....:(
