So do you hire someone to do your taxes (like H&R Block) or do you do it on your own (using Turbotax probably)? I have an accountant to do the taxes for me. Simply because I don't have the patience to go through every detail that needs to be scrutinized before filing our tax return.

I do my taxes by myself. They are easy to do and when I'm done I have a friebd check them over. I allready sent my taxes in and hop to get my refunds by the end of the month.

Wow, that's great. I don't want to risk making it on my own since I am not failiar with it. But maybe I'll try to learn it one of these days. So that on the next filing, I can do it on my own too.

Well, for the last 3 yrs. we have done our Taxes online. It was getting way too expensive to go have someone else do it. With Turbo Tax you can go online and fill out all of the information, and they will even help you Step by Step and let you know how much you are going to get. I actually Love doing it this way, and unless they feel they need to audit you for some reason you end up getting your check really quick this way from them as well.

Some friends are doing Turbo Tax too. I'll see how it goes and then, maybe give it a try.

About US$50. I am not sure if it would be higher this year. I haven't met with my tax preparer yet.

I prepare my own taxes. I did go to HR Block one year, and they charged me over $500.00, and I still owed over $600.00.
I use Taxcut, and import my return from the previous year and do it myself. I owe every year, and I refer to my previous year return.
This year I might have to file for an extension, I am unemployed, and there is no way I can afford to pay taxes by April.

My tax preparer said that it is better to do that- ask for an extension, then to file late. So you ar going to do a good thing. I can't believe H&R block charges that much. OMG.

i usually do my own taxes for free over the internet I have used quicken and H&R Block. Last year I messed something up and got a letter saying I owe additional money. Tomorrow I'm going to the local IRS office and the people there are going to help me fill them out for this year. It's a free service from the government I don't know why people pay so much money to get their taxes done when there is free help available.
