HP is a reliable brand of PCs and Laptops , it doesnt look like a big problem. You probably can try fixing it by uninstalling then reinstalling graphics drivers of your Laptop, it may help

i really dont know much about computer like my boyfriend does, but i think that you might need to get a new one. the only other thing is to send it to the company if its still under warrenty. other then that you would have to find some place that works on laptops and see if they can replace your screen, but that might cost you more then getting a new one.

I have the same problem with my HP! Sometimes it pops up out of no where and I do not know why. I am thinking that maybe it is an over heating issue, but I am not sure, I have tried to look it up but I really don't get any good answers. At least I know I did not do anything and that other people have this problem too. I kind of think the lines look like a plowed field haha, is the mouse pointer changed as well? Because mine tends to look like a little comb on the screen, though it might be particular to my brand. I have a HP Pavillion dv6000.
