Is it still advisable to work abroad these days of world crisis?

I assume all countries today are feeling the effect of the world crisis. In the Philippines, news are telling us that there are lot of overseas contract workers returned here, and did not even finish their contract. With this, most of them were buried with more financial debt since they borrowed money that was spent for all the requirements needed to work abroad. Although this question is being addressed to my fellow Filipino countrymen, I would still love to hear comments from any nationality since this is a global issue. Thanks in advance.

I think, it is still helpful to go abroad and work. It has a great difference when you are earning in other countries and spend your earning in the Philippines. If you just stay in the Philippines, it is so hard.

For me it is so good because you can earn more than here. But we should try to be more careful and check it over if that agency really still operates. Might be bad if it is not legal so verify everything before doing some final application for it and before paying anything. I have heard so many times here in our country pay more but in the long run they cannot go for it is fake. Sad to hear and note this situation.

I think it's still beneficial to everyone who still wants to work abroad despite the global financial crisis.

Im a filipino and i heared that news since i am watching TV patrol world every night. Currently i am connected to an agency which is finding skilled workers to work abroad. So there are some country and companies who needs filipino skilled workers. So not all companies was facing world crisis but there are some also who are not. Thats my own opinion.

I guess, regardless of the recession a number still perceives that working abroad is an answer to address the hardships being felt nowadays. Sadly, I am one of those with such perception. But I never fail in believing that things will be fine for us and this country.

I'd rather engage in small scale business here in my country than go abroad. I think for as long as you are industrious and diligent, you can never go hungry. Why spend a lot for documentation and placement fee involved in going abroad when there are ways to earn here if only we could be resourceful. I always prefer families to be together. I am sad for those who have sacrificed being separated from spouse and children just to earn a living.

Well I guess there are still jobs abroad that are still very much demanded by foreigners. The thing is we should be very careful in choosing jobs and somewhere out there you might just get lucky getting the right jobs. I think before jumping in we should do our duty to verify and research about the job we will choose to do.

For years my cousin worked at the US State Department and traveled all over the world. These days I am unsure if I would like to work overseas. Of course there are places which have few problems but then again some posts are quite dangerous. I know people have worked around the world because they could make a lot of money because they were willing to do so. I don't know if I could, given the world's problems.

I dun think it's advisable to be working abroad now, in this world of crisis.. Even though one did not borrow money to wrok overseas, but they will still be returning to their countries due to retrenchments by companies.. Alot of workers are affected in the whole wide world, especially those big companies.. I have heard from the news that, pioneer is gonna retrench about 100,000 workers world wide and they are gonna pull of the of TV world.. Just imagine the huge loss they have incurred..

Actually, there are so many filipino workers abroad went back due to crisis. But a lot of Job Fairs just offered near you. Here in Cebu, I heard almost more than 3 Job Fairs offering jobs abroad and locally.

Yes, it is.. it is advisable to work abroad these days because there are more job opportunities in other countries.. my dad's been working abroad for years and he has no plans of coming back home yet because of global recessions.. There are lots of things that needed to accomplish before retiring. For instance, paying our car loan, paying for my sister's education, etc...

I still think it does. although, we can still be financially sufficient in our country, the problem will still be opportunities. even our most skillful countrymen can't find the opportunities it needs, what more the most recent college graduates. companies now are just trying to make the ends meet, same with their employees. i can't say i haven't felt the effect of the global crisis but i can still say the country where i am right now has given so many blessings that when the time comes for me to go back home, i would definitely miss it and the same time thankful for all the opportunities it has given me.

nowadays, because of the economic crisis not only here in the Philippines but in other countries as well, going abroad for a greener pasture is still advisable. most sector that had been hit by the crisis are those in the electronics, shipping, etc. there are still some economic sectors that stand firm and if your profession fits to that vacancy then might as well work abroad. the government is making a constant effort to ensure jobs that had been laid off from companies that gone down, call centers or business process outsourcing companies are accepting applicants from different fields and expertise. and with good compensation packages that the call centers offer, it's a good shift rather than working abroad.
