Aswang is a Tagalog term to describe creatures of the night that prey on humans. Most of them are shapeshifters and they often take such animal forms as dogs, boars, and crows. Some say they prey on babies and children. Others say they just prey on vulnerable victims. There are lots of aswang stories told in provinces but did you know that there are also rumors that they roam here in Manila as well? What do you think, are they real or just a myth?

Hello xtedaxcvg! I personally don't believe aswang. I guess it's only a myth. When I was young, I kept on hearing stories about it and I was really scared. But until now, I haven't seen any so I guess it's not true.

To see is to believe eh? Well I think a lot of people stick to that philosophy and it I would have to say it's a solid one at that. :D

For me I don't believe in Aswangs. But my great grandmother who took care of me told me that her mother said Aswangs are real. There is a province known as Capiz where Aswangs are associated and believed to be residing. But I don't know if they are true. Maybe before when we are not civilized so much yet or during Rizal's times. But nowadays, we are on a modern society so no more aswangs but only buwayas in the government.

Haha, I actually laughed on the buwaya part. Well, the reason I brought this topic up was because my neighbor is really scared that an aswang is prying on her since she's pregnant. She heard noises at her doorstep like strong gusts of wind and scratches. She even overheard the "tambays" discussing something about a big black bird perched on her terrace as if waiting on something. And recently there was this odd woman dressed in black walking in front of our building as if spying on someone. I'm just wondering if that makes any sense..

Wow that is exciting! Tell your neighbor to ask someone's help by asking the black lady who she is and what she wants. Of course I will be afraid too if I were her especially that she is pregnant and that will really scare her. When it comes to the strange noise do the same. The only way to find out if there is really an "aswang" is to look for it the time you feel she is around. Ask help from people who are known as "nagroronda" at night or even the barangay tanods. It is better to prevent the bad thing to happen before it happens.

I have heard a lot of stories about Aswang, but I dont believe that there really exist an Aswang until I see one right in front of me trying to prey on his victim. I haven't seen one for the last 40 years of my life. And I hope that I will never have the chance to see one, because when it happens I would't know what will I do, where do I run for help.

Like ghosts I think a more concrete evidence would definitely put the nail on the coffin on this issue. And yet, it still eludes our doubting eyes. :D

hi and hello to all my co-mylot members. . . especially to all my friends who are so busy making money by giving a post in every discussion they encounter in this site. . . By the way this is my response to your forum topic entitled ASWANG... real or myth? when i was a little child my parents always share me a story about aswang and it really scared me, she always tell me that in the night when the moon is a full when the time came at 12 night, you must go to your house so you will no longer encounter a aswang because if ever you encounter a aswang, that monster will it you a live and as i know you will became also a aswang like a vampire. . . may be aswang and vampire is somehow relative with eating blood and flesh. . . well but know that i am already a teen i thnink , i am not believing in aswang as long as i dont encounter them. but by the way i hope i don't encounter the. hehe . . . LOL... XD well thats the end of my response to your forum topic ! ! ! thank you for giving opportunity to response. . . GODBLESS YOU ALWAYS. . . and happy earning ang happy posting. . .

I am confuse really but I know no one has ever seen one. I grew up in a very small baranggay in Visayas where everyone was talking about seeing this and that even my relatives and I am not sure about it,,,, When I was a kid, I admit I have seen one creature, a skeleton image under our sewing machine but I don't think it's an aswang.....He was eating that time and I was running to our room and crying when mom arrived from the market, I told her about it and she checked the area and saw an old bone of chicken which she didn't see when she was cleaning before going to the market....After a week, My dad decided to move!

There are real bad spirits in our surroundings although we haven't seen them. Maybe there are some "aswangs" before in other provinces in the Philippines but it looks like we haven't heard anything like "girl eaten by someone" haha... Well, if this is real, I should start hiding myself in place were he/she can find me? LOL!

Aswangs may be roaming in the metro but I don't think they will take the chance of transforming into a big bird, boar or any animal. Or else, they will be mistaken for free "pulutan" (finger food). Precisely, because most of the people living in the urban areas don't believe on "aswangs" existence. Personally, I don't think aswangs do exist. I believe though that there are those who practice black magic and some of them have immense capability to harm other people.

A lot of people tell me not to believe in them.. but i still keep on believing there are because i get scared when I'm alone outside during the dark.. i feel like the cat is going to chop me or something that just makes me want to kick it. Really scary..but they there aren't any in the cities especially in NCR.. no no no if something like that appears and fly through the skies.. *BANG* down it goes.. it'll be killed by drunkards on the sari-sari store haha!

I think they are totally real. i have not heard or seen them for myself.. but my friends did and i saw some documentaries about them. there is nothing wrong with believing i guess, they are usually in distant provinces anyway..

Even though I haven't really seen any of them- I bet they are real (as real as "engkantos" and other stuff).... some people have seen them too. I hope I never see them though..That would be so scary..
