The price of major foodstuff consumed by the vast majority of the world are wheat, rice and maize. The price hit the historically high levels on international markets. So who are benefiting from all this riot and who are suffering heavily? The losers have been poor people living in cities in developing countries. The main gainers have been farmers in rich countires such as America, Australia, Canada, who are getting record prices for their harvests. Some poor farmers have also benefited from high food prices.

Hello,Tudor! We are presently experiencing lot of problem because of the price hike of all commodities.Your question is who is gaining and who is losing in the process.Neither the farmers or the producers nor the consumers are gaining at any cost.It is the middle men who are making money from marketing the commodities. From this profit of the middlemen, the government also never gain any thing.thanx.

Farmers are definitely not the ones profiting. If any body is, it's the governments that negotiate the import and export prices.
