hello moneymommy
congratulations to you on getting yourself a job. so sorry to hear that it is only going to pay you half of what that you are used to making. that sucks, but i guess that the good thing about it is that the overtime might be worth it. and yes, there are hardly any jobs around here in the Middle Tennessee area either. right now, i work a part-time job for my brother-in-law, and if it wasn't for that, i do not know what kind of a job that i would be able to find here, doing anything. i would love to make a living online on the internet, but i haven't found a way to do that yet either. good luck to you at your new job and i hope that you enjoy working there as well.
take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

congratulations!
this is difficult times.. everyone is trying very hard to hold on their jobs..
there has been rumors that the company is facing very 'low sales' due to the tough market condition, and there are rumors that the company is planning some kind of 'restructuring'.. and normally that means - people are going to lose their jobs..
we are normally paid 'compensations'.. and most of the people i know who have accepted their compensation, will use the money to invest, or try to start their own business.. some have succeeded.. but most of them.. failed.. and in the end tries to look for new jobs... which clearly is not very easy nowadays..
and you've got the fresh graduates, or school leavers to compete with also....
i am praying everyday that the company will not let me go...

Thats great news on finding a job. I was out of work for a few months last year and it was tough going. I was lucky to get the current job I am in now through a friend that pointed me in the right direction. I would have to agree, that the times we are living in now, it can be hard to find work.
Good luck in your new job.

I would have to say I do have a hard time finding a job. But I think my situation is a bit different. You see I own a very small real estate office in a recreational area...and with such a bad economy I am really struggling with keeping the doors open. I was in the red last year and it may be another bad year this year. I have been trying to find ways to suppliment but with owning a business and the type of business I own I have to be available 7 days a week during business hours so finding another job is very difficult. I have turned to the internet to help with it but that even seems to be hard...scams everywhere. I can't even find a job within a 30 mile radious that would be at night. I am hoping to catch a break soon.
I guess if you are making less that you used to that kinda stinks but at least you have a job...as we all know the job market is not the best right now so I am happy you are working.

Congratulations! That's awesome. In today's market, it seems impossible to find a job, and everyone's holding on as tightly as possible to what they have. I have been lucky enough to remain employed (sofar!) through the tough economic times, but a lot of people close to me have not been so fortunate. I see them struggle to find work, and it really makes me wish I could help, but also appreciate the fact that I'm still employed. So, good for you on landing a job! That must be a huge relief :) I hope you end up really enjoying it!

congratulations on the job....I have not looked as I have a one year old and a five yr old that just started school so I have been a full time at home mom for at least 6 years now... also our economy here in michigan is very dry...it is hard to find anything and the unemployment is up higher than it has ever been so I dont think now would be a good time to start looking for me. which is why I started to look online first.

Good for you........My husband has been out of work since October, he is in construction, and we are hoping that it picks back up soon. It is hard to find anything right now with the way the economy is. and our age is against us. to young for social security, and to old to start something new, they are all looking for younger people. He has been to the unemployment office a few times and their is nothing their either. Just trying to keep our heads above water here. But the good thing is our children are raised and on their own. So it is just the two of us, two dogs and a cat.
