Wretched Man?

Despite devotion to Christ, do you, like the Apostle Paul (Romans 7), struggle with doing things you don't want to do and not doing the things you want to do?

Yes, wretched woman that I am. No matter how hard I try to make healthy food choices for my body, I seem to be unable to keep making good choices. Some sugary dessert knocks me right off that wagon. But thankfully, I don't condemn myself, for I know there is no condemnation in Christ. I just start over in my forgiven state, brush myself off and begin that health focus again. As far as not doing what I want to do...everyday...it's called exercise... No really, there are many people and causes I should be helping, but comforts of home seem to win out. I identify with Paul; what a wretched woman I am....

And aren't you glad that you also identify with him in realizing that Jesus Christ is the answer to all the wretchedness!

You are absolutely correct, and when I see no such struggle in my life, then I am most likely walking lock-step with the world. Bad! Responding to Jellen's comments (food and otherwise): In the long run, it matters not so much that we fall down. It is far more important that we accept His hand up and get back on course. This is not to say that our falling into sin is not important. But we can rely on the fact that His Grace Is Sufficient, and He knew my sinful state when He provided that Grace. djbtol

Grace is one of my most favorite words, essentially, one of my most favorite gifts received. I don't deserve it, can't earn it, get it new every morning, and because of it, all the wretchedness if feel or experience is washed clean because of the grace inherent in His forgiveness. And you are right, djbtol. His grace is sufficient.
