Have you ever known the sequel to be better than the first?

It is very rare because most sequels simply depend on the reputation of the original film to bring in viewers. However, I thought that The Chronicles of Riddick was a much better film that Pitch Black, which really only set the scene for the sequel. I also think that Shrek 2, while not actually rating as better than the original Shrek, did at least qualify as equally good.

hmm for the sequel tos eem better ...for starters you shouldnt go intot the movie expectin a differnet plot ..for gossakes its teh smae characters .......with the same bg abt movies whose sequels were better the first n foremost would be scary movie(but then that doesnt really qualify) the next on teh list would be hannibal.the sequels were increasingly better

Terminator 2 and also kill bill 2 , I found kill bill 1 to be one of the worst movies and didn't want to ever see the second it was that bad. Yet my hubby wanted to see it, so I watched it and actually found it ok. It at least had some sort of plot to it.

only one I can think of is the mel gibson mad max trilogy, Road Warrior was better than Mad Max, and Mad Max beyond the thunderdome was better than the first 2 movies in my opinion.

I would say Shrek 2 was better than the first but usually no they don't compare because we expect too much.

I liked Spiderman2 better than Spiderman 1. In fact I love the first two of the trilogy, (3 is still yet to be shown.) so for sequels, I guess Spiderman2 works for me.
