I think I try to follow the basics, although I am not too sure i would go too well if I was to go to dinner at Buckingham Palace, but I think I am not too bad.

I have table manners, but don't use them as much when I am in the comfort of my own home. When we are out in public, I use them because it's common respect for everyone else at the table or other tables who may look my way.

Yes my husband likes to educate our son in table manners and it is a good thing. When we take him out for meals and snacks ect he does his best he is fifteen now and is remembers all the things that have been drummed into him through the years.elbow on table, don't talk with your mouth full, use a knife and fork properly but when you look around at other adults it is a waste of time as they eat from their plate with their fingers, they almost lay on the table, they start to eat before every one is seated. My husband will have none of it we do things properly ,He is a dying breed poor soul, but he is right ,I was brought up with correct table manners as well,we do allow talking at the table one thing my parents would never allow. If we do go anywhere posh we are nomally better mananered there as well.It is difficult trying to do the right thing in a world that does not seem to care anymore, manners cost nothing and get you a long way in the world that is what we taught our three and now they teach that to their children.

I reflect back on the teaching of table manners when I am out in a public place, but if Im at home or at family house I just do what is comfertable. Most of the time we dont even eat at a table just on the couch or in bed.

For the most part I have very good table manners, no elbows on the table, napkin in the lap, using the silverware properly, please pass this, or that, not eating until everyone had their plates served to them... I am always the server so it makes it easy to remember that one lol.

I was raised by my grandparents who were very keen on good manners in every respect including good table manners. Yes I still follow them even though I don't often eat at the table at home. Having said that, even if we're eating from trays in front of the TV I still wouldn't start eating until everyone has their food, and I don't get up until everyone else has finished, etc.
