I recently joined a discussion forum called Voicing opinions which is supposed to be much like the myLot style forum. I posted my first discussion a few days ago, which was "Are you alarmed by the number of click sites that are going under and not paying?" I get this response in my private mailbox when I logged in this morning: "MisterAlculates Message subject: Re: Alarmed by the click sites not paying going broke? Folder: Inbox Hey, I have no idea what you are talking about with "click sites". But I have moved the thread just for the fact that it sounded like some type of advertising." Now the meddling bugger admits he has absolutely no idea what I am talking about and that is fine, no one expects him to know something about everything, but get paid to click sites are everywhere and it is near on to impossible to avoid seeing a banner or advertisement for such sites somewhere. I am a member of several click sites and I even have a website and two blogs about it. So for promotion I am covered. I was simply asking a question. I didn't include a link to anywhere, not one of my sites, not one of the paid to click sites, nothing. I figured that there has to be some members of Voicing Opinions that are also members of paid click websites because that is where I found the link to this site in the first place. I felt it was a valid question, especially when viewed in the context that there were no ads or links present in the post. And he had no idea what I was talking about to start with. In my response I told him that I was a member of myLot.com in good standing for almost 3 years and that I know how to conduct myself in a discussion forum but from now on I would restrict my "opinion" to sites where senseless censorship is not as rampant as it apparently is there. I also asked him if he spotted any ads or links on my posted discussion? Their lack would indicate that I wasn't advertising anything but curiousity. This just makes me appreciate my myLot membership more!

That's what happens sometimes on sites that have moderators (such as morachat). There's some good in having people look out to make sure content is appropriate, etc. But sometimes it's not good, as in this case.

Apparently you ran into some kind of jerk on the other site. Some folks are arrogant enough to view themselves as the 'posting' police. There might be a few of those on myLot as well. I guess it is best to just ignore them. djbtol

He's not just the posting police he is the Sheriff of Voicing Opinions. He's the webmaster and he moderates all posts apparently. Could you imagine them trying to do that on myLot?

MyLot does this, too. They actually inactivated me a year ago after I wrote what they considered a controversial post. It really wasn't, but some troll complained and they don't bother to check things out. It's easier to bounce a member (especially one that is ready to cash out) than to spend a minute to figure oiut whether or not they've done something wrong.
