Yeah, there are several free anti-viruses around, there are even those which are good but would only last about a month as a free trial. Better that than nothing at all. A friend of mine actually tried doing that (he tested what would happen to his pc if he didn't install any anti-virus (he was an IT so it was okay, he just used a test dummy pc), he found that it only took him several minutes online before several viruses was already attacking his pc.

Hi friend i would advice purchase a good antivirus licensed copy like kasperasky internet security 2009 with license ,because you can 't take risk of using free trial always ,i was also doing this previously but facing severe problem i purchased licensed copy of kasperasky .

There is so dangerous to connect to internet without anti virus. Protect yourself new_user99, there are to many free anti virus available to download. You also need a free firewall, I suggest free firewall from PC-TOOLS. There is no excuse not to use firewall. Free anti virus can be download from the internet itself.

Hey, Well it is not good to have no antivirus. I one time tried it out for proof, this was when I had no antivirus on my computer, since I was only a kid and my parents knew (and still don't) nothing about computers. When we got the Internet, my brother and I since we were kids, were just surfing away on miniclip sites and all those flash games, then all of a sudden all these fake virus software would pop up, saying that we needed an antivirus. So basically, we had viruses on our computer, that were telling us to install 'fake' antiviruses. Overall, you MUST have an antivirus. Hope this helps!!

I suggest you to use a free anti-virus like "AVG", "Antivir" which offer free protection to your computer. If your are using windows operating system it is necessary to have a anti-virus installed, because most of the virus code are targetted towards windows.

Surfing without anti-virus is more like leaving the front door open when you go out of the house. Vista has an improved firewall but it may be a good idea to have another one installed if the two do not clash and yours is a high end computer. A firewall is important to protect your computer from intrusions. Avast, CCleaner, FCleaner, Comodo Internet Security, and many other updated anti-virus and anti-malware software do support Vista. We can always check the required specifications before downloading any software. all the best in defending your computer system, rosdimy
