I bought some conversation valentine's heart candys and noticed that some said "txt me". Now I hate texting so I tossed that one in the trash! Then I see one that says "email me". Okay, not so bad, but it was white and that flavor is icky. The rest were okay and life moved on.... Then today I am watching the news and they mention that you can place an order for conversation hearts with your choice of word. But they said minimum order was 3500 pounds at a cost of about $8,000.... then mentioned...that " "you can tell times have changed as they used to say "Fax Me", but that is so "90's" that they changed it to now say ......" and I finished the sentenace "txt me" and the caster said the same. Funny how time flys when you are having fun and how something so insignificant as a tiny piece of candy stays in tune with the times!

That is so funny! I guess when I was little they must have said "Chisel me a message" or something like that. I love conversation hearts, but I've had to abstain for the past two years since I broke a tooth on one. Sad, but true. I so miss the hearts, even the white ones. Thanks for keeping me up to date on the changing of the messages since I can't do it myself anymore. Happy Valentine's Day!

hello coffeebreak i know what you mean about the little heart style valentine's day candy that you have mentioned in your discussion. and i think that i remember the heart candies that used to say fax me on them. lol and like you said, that was so 90's. lol now with the heart candies saying email me and txt me on them are hip with the way things are here in 2009. and it is weird how that the heart shaped candies stay up with the changes in the world, talk wise. lol if our children would have grown up in the generation that we did, they would laugh at us probably in what that our heart candies used to have on them. lol you know? take care and have a beautiful evening.

Here you go... The present day Sweethearts Conversation Heart dates back to 1902. Back then, besides hearts, they also produced various shapes such as postcards, baseballs, horseshoes and watches. Today's sayings have to be short and g-rated but some of the original sayings are still being used today. They include "Be Mine," "Be Good," "Be True," "Kiss Me," and "Sweet Talk." In honor of NECCO's 150th Anniversary in 1997, a saying was brought back from the early 1900's -- "The One I Love." In the early 1990's, NECCO Vice President Walter Marshall decided to update the sayings each year and retire some. His first --Fax Me--created a lot of attention from Sweetheart fans. As a result, each year we receive hundreds of suggestions from romantics, candy lovers and school kids for new sayings. From old tech, "Call Me” to new tech, "E-mail Me," Sweethearts keep the pulse on the heartbeat of the nation. Ain't candy fun!!!!!

Lol should have saved that txt me piece it might be a collectors item some day. Some companies let you personalize them and order less than that.. I had teachers that used to buy them for the class mates and we used to all got to submit what they said and vote on it it was fun. - DNatureofDTrain
