Somebody tell me how to block IE automatically launching...

I have a cable broadband connection. I've been given a client software to establish the connection with the ISP. The problem is, the client software automatically launches Internet Explorer and opens an ad. It annoys me very much. I've made my IE to block the ad sites too. However, I can't block the Internet Explorer from launching. (My default browser is FireFox and this idi*t software doesn't detect it)
How can I block this? Is there any Firewall setting that I can do with this?

They are the only service provider nearby. Others are far away.
But, it seems they are also far away, by their poor service.
