Uncle Sam's Plantation?

I aluded to this topic last week when I asserted in another discussion that a lot of blacks have a slave mentality. I have found an article by Star Parker in which she agrees and expounds upon the "slave mentality" idea. Take a look at her article and see if you agree. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Perspectives/Default.aspx?id=414214

Wow. That is a frightening, and painfully accurate article. I get accused of being a racist every time I say anything like that so I'm glad it was a black American who wrote it. I feel that during the civil rights era black people worked their butts off to get the rights they deserved. There were black people who could recite the entire constitution forwards and backwards to pass discriminatory "literacy tests" used to disenfranchise them. Modern society, along with purveyors of poverty like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, have taught black people that they no longer have to be educated or hard working. They tell these people that the government now OWES them everything that their ancestors worked so hard for. It has caused a complete reversal of the ethics that forced the country to acknowledge that black Americans were not second class citizens. It's been proven that the states and cities with the most consistent left wing leadership all eventually fall down the same path. I started a thread on this without really addressing the racial aspect only because the same thing can be done to any race. It was just easier to do it to a minority. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1664067.aspx http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/20/beck.cities/index.html I wonder how long it will take cjr/ery to start calling me a racist here now.

Hello Taskr, I have once again reported this/these abusive member(s). Far be it from me to suggest a course of action for you. Though, I've been monitoring this problem and have chosen for myself a course of action which is the recommended course for all encounters with a troll(s). I contend that since the sustained conduct of this/these members (IF they really are two separate members) is precisely the conduct of a "flaming" troll, that it is probably best to treat her/them as one would any troll. While there may be some challenge in attempting to present a logical counter-argument, it has proven futile as well as counter productive. Counter-productive because once this/these members are engaged she/they explode into uncontrolled, irrational rage and subsequently seek out innocent bystanders to subject to her/their vitriol. So, not only do you waste your time (because so many of these interractions are eventually deleted by the admins) but by participating in the vitriol we actually contribute to the likelihood that an innocent bystander will find him or herself in the line of fire of her/their collateral venom. This is merely a suggestion, though I'm putting forth that it simply isn't worth it to be drawn into the paranoid delusions of this/these member(s). I believe that Admin should have already 86'd her/them. Until Admin does intervene, those of us who do have impulse control have the ability to reject her/their efforts to instigate these "flame wars". I hope that you don't mind that I've chimed in here Taskr. Some of us have seen how irrational and downright nasty the attacks from this/these member(s) can become. I would hope that by refusing to fuel her/their paranoia that other members will be spared her/their rage. Thanks for your understanding!

You are correct ladyluna. The best way to get rid of trolls is to stop feeding them. At first they were amusing, now they are just a nuisance. Thank you for your advice.

I often wondered about the others who were former slaves were able to work hard and lift themselves out of their condition, such as the Jews who were enslaved by the Nazis, and the Poles and Ukrainians who worked in the labor camps plus those political prisoners in the Gulag, as well as the ancestors of some of us, who were enslaved by the ancient Romans and yet they were able to work hard and first pay for their freedom and then as soon as they did, went to start businesses. Yet here we have, at least in the United States, a group of people who are dark skinned think that the government owes them a living. I mean girls getting themselves pregnant and not insisting that the father of the child marry them, let alone support them, but rather support him. Is this not the idea of having a slave mentality? And if a white person wrote the article, instead of this black lady, it would have been called racist. Even that is unfair. We white people cannot even say what is wrong.

I am waiting for a day when a white person can write a column like this and not get his or her head snapped off. I do think that it is a shame that other peoples who were enslaved - the ancient Hebrews for instance, the Jews, the Poles, and Ukrainians who worked as forced labor, etc. and maybe some of our ancestors were able to make something out of themselves. Now let me see, the latter - World War II ended over 60 years ago and the Civil War was not that back 150 years ago plus?

Hello Clrumfelt, Star's article tears at my soul. I have long been a fan of Star's grit, and her contributions to the intelligent debate against the adoption of Socialism in the USA. I declare emphatically that my choice is to continue to choose personal responsibility and freedom. NO PLANTATIONS ever again in the USA, and that includes voluntary submission to the Faustian Plantation contract. For those who might find themselves bitten by Star's article, I will recommend her three books, as well as an ancillary exploration of the Plantation reality of the 20th & 21st century written by C. Mason Weaver. Pimps,W.h.o.r.e.s. and Welfare Brats: From Welfare Cheat to Conservative Messenger by Star Parker White Ghetto: How Middle Class America Reflects Inner City Decay by Star Parker Uncle Sam's Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America's Poor and What We Can Do About It by Star Parker It's OK to Leave the Plantation: The New Underground Railroad by C. Mason Weaver I suggest that we cannot have intelligent debates about racism, diversity, Affirmative Action, crime initiatives, racial profiling as a tool in the war against radical Islamic terrorists, etc... until we engage honest discussions about how The War on Poverty and today's DNC continue to enslave American Blacks with that Faustian Plantation contract.

It's an issue that goes beyond race. Our society is evolving into a society of people who want the government to do everything for them. They want hand outs and promises of protection, but they don't know what they're asking, or who they're asking it of. Their dependency on the state increases, and willingness to take responsibility for their own lives and financial problems decreases. This doesn't apply to everyone, of course, but the number of people who fall into this category increases every year. I wouldn't call it 'slave mentality'. I call it hopeless dependency.

The problem goes beyond race, but it is more prominent in the black community because they have leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who actively promote dependence on the system and tell them they deserve handouts. This type of behavior is not encouraged by the leaders of any other ethnic group in the US that I know of.

You are funny. The fat cat in the picture. Is he yours? I agree. If there is a line for bailouts, let us all have a share. Don't discriminate (pun intended).

No I do not agree. The programs do not and have not worked. They are designed to keep people, not just blacks, on the welfare roll. There is inadequate support for people who want to improve their status. Welfare recipients find themselves in a position of having no health care or childcare for their children or they have to sacrifice other precious comforts needed for daily living if they try to do anything that brings in any small amount of money. They become discouraged and decide it is better for the family to stay put and accept the government handout. If they are lucky enough to have support from family and friends or a significant other then they can work the system to their advantage and dig their way out. I take issue with the idea of this slave mentality bull pucky when it comes to a single parent trying to live and survive on government issue. I challenge anyone to try and survive on it with no help from anyone. People may feel like they are prisoners to the system - trapped and can't get out.

If blacks and whoever else have a slave mentality because of welfare it is, in part, the fault of the system itself. It is set up for failure. Those who have successfully gotten out of it were the lucky one. Welfare reform did little other than to force people into a low paying workforce.
