The torn up jeans..

My son goes to school. And he is in Kindergarten. Well, lately when he gets out of school his jeans or torn. He tears them from kneeling on the class room rug. I know that many will think that he is wearing cheap jeans, but that is not the case here. He rubs so hard on them until they end up tearing at the knees. I know that he can get patches to go on the inside of his jeans.. Do your kids or someone else's kid that you know of experience the same thing? I have talked to him about this. I told him to try not to rub your knees so hard against the rug. I know that the teachers allow the students to sit on the rugs on their bottoms. So, even if I bring this to the teacher's attention, it really would not change anything as much. My son just have to remember to not rub his kness constantly on the rug. What do you do about jeans that keeps tearing up by the rug? I do get tired of seeing his jeans torn at the knees evertime that I look around. I have been considering buying him pants that are like sweat pants.. Maybe this material will not tear as fast as the jeans.. I can't wait until summertime gets here! Or, when it gets warmer! Shorts time!

I have a nephew that does that always..... my sis in law.. bought him a gap jeans..and he's 4years old...and he makes a big hole in his new pants the same day that he wears that in school.. i think he crawls around the classroom... my sis in law.. got fed up buying him new expensive pants..all his pants have holes in the knees part... so nowadays she just goes to a cheap store.. and buy him $10 pants.... so it wont be heart breaking if he tears it up...

Yes, that what I do too. I will buy the $9.00 jeans from Walmart. And I will also let him wear jeans that my sister-in-law's son used to wear, I am glad for the jeans. It helps me save more money. I am not to fast to buy him brand new jeans everytime that he scuffs them up or tears them up. I will be trying the patches very soon too.

All you can do is look for pants or jeans with reinforced knees. I don't' crawl around a lot on the floor and I am always busting the knees out on my jeans- I am 30!

Hi Doll I never had that problem that I remember when the kids were growing up but I did buy the reinforced knee pants. Don't they do that to clothes for children anymore? oxoxoxoxoxo

I am sure that they may do it.. I will have to find out if they really do. If so, this will be a good idea for my son.

How about getting some patches to iron onto his jeans in the knee area ahead of time so he would wear down the patches first before the jeans. That way he'll have some time to wear the jeans before he tears a hole in them. I can imagine how expensive having to constantly buy new jeans but using patches on the outside would make them last a bit longer.

Yes, it gets expensive. That is why, I just go to Walmart and buy him the jeans for $10.00. And I also take old jeans from my sister-in-law's son, she gives them to my son. I tell her to just give them to me.. I would rather him wear old jeans than new jeans all of the time. He gets them scuffed up a lot..

Yes, that is what I have been told. I am planning on doing do with all of his jeans. It will help out just as soon as holes get into them.

My kids do that, too. I get those patches to put on the outside once they have a hole. This way the jeans will last a little longer and the kids love them (flowers and such for my girls, balls and airplanes and such for my boy). They not only sit on the rug but also 'walk' on their knees to the neighbor, to show something to the teacher, at home on the carpet to play with cars and other toys... I know Sears has a return policy for such dilemmas but I would be there all the time exchanging blue-jeans, lol. Can't wait for summer. It's funny how they tear the pants but never get their knees rough or even a little bloody by doing that. You'd think that would happen if the jeans wear out that easy...

Forgot to mention, mine manage to get holes into the sweat pants, too. I think it's the way they move and turn on their knees.

Yes, you are right! I am glad to know that another parent experiences the same thing too. Where do you go to get the patches from?.. I have no problem with him wearing these. I just don't want it to look too old fashioned, if you know what I mean... Yes, it happens that way too with them doing other things besides sit on their bottoms. That is why I always let him wear old jeans to school.. The good ones stay at home until he goes out..

Oh, my goodness!! If a hole gets in the sweat pants, then I know that we have a problem! I know that I can't wait for the summer!!!! I guess it is something that he has to out grow. As he get older, maybe his jeans will last much longer, I am assuming..
