I received an email this morning from my husband's family who live mainly down south and they are claiming that 21 states are declaring sovereignty from the federal government of the United States. The last time this happened our country went into a bloody cival war. I looked online to see if any major networks are reporting on this but could find nothing except from the obscure sources and one dating back several years ago. I for one think this would be horrible for our country in the situation it is already in. Our country will be seen as weak and open to attack if we are fighting ourselves. I live in Iowa and we are one of the states that has NOT declared our sovereignty. Do you think this is a hoax or the beginning of another bloody chapter in our history as a nation?

Yep, it's true, but it's not something to panic about. Sovereignty is not the same as a secession. They're basically reminding themselves and the feds that they don't have to do everything the morons up on capitol hill say. I have to say that I'm happy they're doing it, though. Here's a link to infowars: http://www.infowars.com/21-states-claiming-sovereignty/ The link I provided sends you to a page with links to the actual website of each state legislature. If you follow the link for the state, you can read the text of the bill that declares sovereignty.

Although, let me add that the issue is kind of hyped up. Some of those states had declared sovereignty years before. It's not like they're all rushing to declare sovereignty here and now.

What exactally does it mean for those states who have declared sovereignty than compared to the states that have not declared sovereignty then? I think it is crazy that these states waited until now to declare sovereignty and the comments keep pointing to President Obama like he created the mess our country is in. He didn't create it but he isn't helping the situation either. It just looks really bad for our country that it is in his first year of being our President that 21 states decide to do this. I don't like big government either and disagree with how they want to handle rebuilding our economy but this seems to be going a bit far. What is next?

I have heard that as more and more ppl get fed up with how things are being done the more chance there is that there will be another civil war. Like anything else, ppl will take it till they can't take it anymore and then they'll fight back. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

It's a hoax. I'm in Florida and, unless they left us out, there's been no talk of such things down here. I have a son in Alabama and a good friend in North Carolina who would have told me if something like that was happening and it *definitely* would have received major news coverage.

There is a difference between delcaring sovereignty and seceding (which is what happened during the civil war). It is nothing to worry about. But yes it is true and it is happening.
