I have recently started to paint in the abstract style, and I am enjoying it very much. I know that it is important to art for art itself, nevertheless does anybody know what is a good way to turn abstract art into a marketable product? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I totally agree that art should be for art itself, unfortunately, i am having a hard time applying my belief. I think when I really am able to make art for art itself is when my art will finally be successful. Thank You.

I understand what you are saying, and I am trying so much to separate the art from thinking about monetary value, unfortunately I have not been successful yet.

well i think you can try selling it in ebay or other online places where you can sell it. That'd make it marketable i think... Just frame your painting and it's good to go!

Thank you for this suggestion, I really appreciate it. I have posted my artwork on-line several times in the past and have had no luck selling much. Nevertheless, all the paintings I have posted have been unframed. This is a really good idea!

i say try online markets and such or you can take it up to your local gallery if you have one. our gallery will look at art and if they believe it will sell then they'll hang it up. The bad thing about trying to sell art right now is the economy. The whole art market isnt doing so great right now so if you do get the chance to sell then be flexible with the price.
