Comfort or Looks..How Do You Choose Your Shoes?

When you are buying new shoes, do you buy them more for comfort or style? I guess I go for a combination of both, but I definately put comfort before style. I would rather wear a pair of shoes that look ugly and be extremely comfortable in them than to buy a pair of shoes that look good, but are uncomfortable.

I buy for both. During the summer I go for comfort. I like wearing rocketdogs because they are really nice. Then when school starts I go for style. I like high heels, wedges, and flats. Sometimes I love my shoes and other days I hate them.

When I am dancing, I don't have much choice in that department - comfort does play a role, but especially with pointe shoes, nothing can make such an endeavor 100% comfortable on the feet! In the rest of my life, however, I would say I choose somewhere in between comfort and style. I want something that goes with the highest percentage of the clothes that are in my closet and that I wear often. I also move around a lot, and like to do a lot of walking, so I want something I'll be able to walk long periods of time in. (Of course, being a dancer, I get pretty used to having to move around in uncomfortable shoes for long periods of time... but I do like to give me feet a break when I am not dancing!) I don't normally buy dress shoes because I don't have many occasions where formal attire is essential, so I usually lean towards something casual and comfortable but attractive and coordinating with my clothes at the same time.

I will have to have comfortable shoes that are in style. They have to feel good on my feet. I have worn shoes that were very uncomfortable, but they were in style.. I am not so bent out on the style, comfort is my selection!

I, too, usually go for both. i like shoes to be comfy and still look nice. Sometimes, though, I just love a certain pair of shoes so much that i will buy them even if they're not that comfortable. If a pair of shoes is super ugly, I will not buy them even if they are way comfortable. There are plenty of comfortable and cute shoes, so I won't settle for comfortable, but ugly.

I am retired, and stay home all day. Comfort is more important for me. Shoes I wore in office are of better look, but with the high heels, I cannot stand them any more. I buy good brand shoes for the comfort, and quality, and only at reasonable prices, usually when they are having a sales. In the past years, fashionable shoes come and go. I don't like those with very sharp pointed heads, with extremely high heels, and with too much decorating stuffs. They are no good for health. You know the feet are related with all parts of the body. We must keep the feet comfortable and warm.

I choose them basically the same way as you do, by comfort more than looks. Though I did see a pair of shoes a few years ago that caught my eye. I thought they were rather cute, for shoes. LOL Anyway, I was kind of weary of trying them on in fear that they wouldn't be comfortable. And they weren't all that comfortable...at first. But once they broke in (about a week or 2 later), they were pretty darn comfy! I finally got a couple pairs of the same shoes a few months ago. I had been unable to find them for some time so I happy when I saw them at the store again. I thought they had been discontinued and I'd be stuck with having to wearing sneakers. LOL

I normally buy for comfort. But it all depends on what I'm buying the shoes for. If it is for a special occassion, I have been known to buy the perfect shoe for the perfect outfit....even if they weren't not the perfect, comfortable fit. lol But since I normally will be found in jeans or workout clothes, I go for support and comfort.

I have to have a comfortable pair of shoes!! There is almost nothing I hate more than uncomfortable shoes!!! I am not to worried about how they look as long as I am very comfortable!! I have to wear dress shoes to work during the week but I find the most comfortable ones that I can and there is no way that I will ever start to wear the sky high heels that a lot of the other girls wear.
