We put money aside for big vacations. Small ones we just play by ear.

We dont go on big vacations...3 weeks camping in the summer with the kids...we just pay out of the paycheck and hold a loan payment for that month.

normally we will just go and spend. Next year we are saving up. Our friends want to rent a cabin so I have to come up with our share, so we have to save. We usually take vacation when my husband knows he's getting paid and we only go camping anyway. No buying souviners, or site seeing. Just plain old fishing and camping.

Yes I always save the money needed for a nice relaxing vacation. I plan the vacation for months with a very tight itenerary so everything will go smoothly. I try to pay for as much as possible in advance so I don't carry so much money on the road and I do not have to worry amount hotel rooms not being available. It is always a GREAT trip when everything is just waiting there for you to arrive. Small vacations I still plan ahead for the money and make sure it can be worked into the budget!

We always plan/save. I think it is better that way, then when it comes time to go you don't have to worry about spending too much money or whatever. You can just enjoy yourself and pretty much do what you want.
