I used to play a lot of football and that kept me fit and healthy and i'd run miles but now i can't even run a km properly without a break in between because i've been out of it for almost 6 months now..I can't go back to playing football because of it and also i find no time throughout the day.. How can i improve on my stamina???

You must start out slowly. Your lack of exercise has left you out of condition. As they say Make haste slowly. You must start with simple, light exercises at least 30 minutes a day. You might think that the exercises are too easy for you since you played football before, but that is how to start. When you are running, it's okay to have a break. It's just a sign of how out of condition you have become and how much improvement you need. Soon, you will be running like you did before. Also have a healthy diet. Include plenty of protein to your meals. The formula is your body weight in kilograms multiplied by 0.8. The answer is you required protein in grams. You can add more to this since you exercise... Stay healthy! Good luck and God bless you!

I like all the responses a bit. Having not worked out for six months has definitely put you out of condition. I don't want to overdo this, so I'll try to be short. Best suggestions would be to start working up slowly. Start out with a warm-up walk and then build up one, two, three, four, six, however many miles you desire. Walk-run if you wish (hard for a runner). Also, eat a balanced diet, one that gets those hormones, those motivaters, up and moving. Eat a good bit of protein (take the suggestion given earlier). Just make sure you eat well throughout the day. Make time! Love working out and running. Invest in a heart rate monitor. I just bought me one a little over a month ago at Wal-Mart for $25. I'm really enjoying keeping track of my heart rate and working with it while running. Also, invest in literature if need be! Hope this helps.

You have been out for six months now. Imagine the time when you first started, it takes time to regain back to the same form. Remember your starting days when you had to practice for hours just to cover that extra mile. It will surely come back but don't expect in one day or one week for that matter. Stay calm and stay focused. One more thing, if you smoke reduce it gradually. All the Best!
