Hey so I was wondering how many people keep the plastic shopping bags that come from all different kinds of stores. They now also have the reusable bags at most stores I think they are 1 dollar...have you bought them do you use them. Ok I keep all the plastic shopping bags we get, you never know when they will come in handy..i have used them to pack beakables becuase with newspaper the print sometimes wears off. i use them to put smelly diapers and things like that in. They have so many uses so yeah i keep them..and at most grocery stores you have to pay 5cents a bag, so im gonna use them if i can lol. We have bought so many of the reusable bags from lots of different stores. We do use them, but we forget them soo much. Sometimes we forget then in the car and dont remember until we're at checkout, other times we forget them at home from when we bring grocerys in. But when we remember them we use them lol. So do you use reusable bags, or plastic bags...or both? Do you save your plastic bags?

I use every plastic bag I can get because I have 30 cats and I dump the old cat litter onto newspaper then wrap it all up then put it in plastic bags then out it goes into the trash container! What I am worried about is when the whole country decides to stop making plastic bags, (and it will come to that), What the heck will I use to put the cat litter in???

I agree, I only have 2 cats, but i also use the grocery bags to clean the litter box. We use them for garbages as well and I take some monthly to my youngest pre-school where they use them for garbages or for the kids to take stuff home or even crafts. My Dad also takes them to his work the homeless shelter as some of the clients carry they belonging in them. I do use the reuseable bags but sometimes i get more groceries then bags or forgot them. I do home they won't discontinue the bags without a similiar option, what would my cats do??

We keep most of the plastic bags that we get from the store. I use them for so many things. Instead of buying the expensive zip lock bags, i use the plastic store bags for puzzle pieces that the box has been destroyed too, or game pieces. I also put some of my son's little legos in them. Some other things I've done with them, as I am a pack rat, I keep my son's papers from school, and i put them in there to put in the hope chest, so incase it ever get's wet or damp, it's lesslikely to cause major damage to them. I also wrap up breakables in them frist before putting the newspaper around them so the newspapers don't rub off on them. I send alot of gifts and so on in the mail to my family at home, so i shoove them n there to help with less movement in the boxes. We also use them for trash bags in the bathrooms for our smaller trash cans. We've bought the cloth reuseable ones, but they are always in the one spot where I can't remember where they are when I need them.

We have the reusable bags, which we use whenever we remember them. And we re-use the plastic bag to take lunches in or as trash bags.

We save the plastic bags and use them as trashbags at home. That way all the plastic doesn't really go to waste; we use them, still.

I personally keep all my plastic bags, I use them when I clean out my cat litter. I feel like it is the least that I can do considering how bad they are for the environment. I think that everyone should try to reuse their plastic bags at least once or twice.

We save all of our plastic bags! In fact, we have one great big bag that holds all of the plastic bags from when we go shopping. We use them for lots of things. I use the bags from hobby lobby to wrap orders in sometimes if I don't want them to get wet, and we use them for tons of other stuff too. We use them for garbage bags...like in those little bitty garbage cans you put in your bathroom...and sometimes I peel potatoes into them because it's easier to just throw the whole bag of peelings in the garbage, and we use them for lots of other things too.

We save our plastic bags a bit because we use them for small trashcan trash bags. However, we do end up taking a lot back to the stores that will recycle those bags so the bags aren't taking up space or so they don't end up in a landfill somewhere and end up choking innocent animals or something. We do use reusable shopping bags however. We use them so we can cut down on the amount of plastic bags that we use. I'm not a big fan of things that damage the earth and those are one of them. They're kind of a necessary evil at this point but I'm hoping that will change a bit in the near future.

I do both! Most of the time I would bring a reusable bag for my major shopping, however, sometimes I accidentally buy things without bringing a reusable bag, and I would keep those plastic bags, either as trash bags or for other use!

Hi, This is a great topic for discussion. I reuse every single plastic bag that I bring home from every store I shop in. I reuse plastic bags by lining trash cans with them; carrying my things in them; and for packaging my artwork that I sell. I do not need to purchase reusable bags because I have several bags made out of fabric. Have a good day or evening, as the case may be.

We keep the plastic shopping bags. The little ones we use in garbage cans in the bedrooms and bathrooms. The larger ones for garbage bags in other rooms. We also use them for carrying stuff. They never just get thrown out when we bring them home, we always use them for something else. I guess I should just recycle them though instead of putting trash in them and then throwing them away. I guess that will be my next project to start doing.maybe I will work on just asking for paper bags and skip the plastic altogether.

Yes, we use our reusable bags whenever we go to the supermarket on weekends. I got them for free at our local supermarket. It is our way of helping save Mother Earth. But sometimes, when I buy things unexpectedly on weekdays, I usually end up bringing home plastic bags. I kept the plastic bags at home, I usually used them to wrap our garbage.

Like many here, I have both the plastic shopping bags and the reusable ones from Walmart. Our biggest problem is that we keep forgetting to take the reusable bags back outside to the car. Or, if we have them in the car, we forget to take them inside with us. So, we still end up with mounds of plastic bags. We use the plastic bags to line our small waste paper baskets, for cleaning out the kitty litter, for cushioning things I pack, and other uses. Once a month, we take more of our excess plastic bags to the local convenience center, which is where you take your garbage and recyclables (if you don't have pickup). We believe in recycling as much as possible.

hello kayla yes, to answer your question about do i save my plastic shopping bags that i get from all kinds of different stores that i do my shopping at? yes, i do. i use the small plastic shopping bags that i get like that to put down in all of my small trash cans that i have around my house and i have three of them, so i use loads of the plastic bags like that in a weeks time around here at my house. i can never get enough of those plastic shopping bags. lol i even keep them in my vehicles in case that somebody might happen to get car sick riding somewhere. and also in the vehicles to keep everybody's trash in. take care and have a beautiful evening.

We have a few reusable ones that we take with us when we run to the grocery store for a few things but when we go to Walmart or something I just take the plastic bags. I use the plastic ones for the small garbage cans around the house and for cleaning the cat litter. I don't usually throw them away, we have a little bag dispenser in the laundry room. Our city is actually talking about banning plastic bags municipally which I think could definitely be beneficial but it is far from important considering all the other unaddressed problems in our town.

I save the plastic bags when I get them. I use them in the trash cans and to put the dirty kitty litter in. I recently bought the reusable bags at the grocery stores I go to. I really like them because you can carry so much more in them and they are easy to carry into the house. I put them right next to my coupon file box so I don't forget to take them with me when I go shopping. They do have recycling boxes for the plastic bags, but I never remember to take them back to the store. I do reuse them so they aren't totally wasted.
