We are all aware of normal glasses which we put on to correct our vision. It is made of lens to adjust the focal length of the eyes so as to have the image formed on the retina. These glasses do not help the eyes to improve in anyway. There is another type of glass known as Pinhole Glasses. This is made of opaque plastic which has a number of pin holes on it. The distance of the pinholes is so adjusted as to form a number of images on the retina and cut out the rays of light which focus short of or behind the retina. This way it reduces the strain on the eye muscles and are more relaxing to the eyes. It can be put on while viewing TV or reading but it is not recommended to be used while driving. 15-20 minutes of its use everyday can actually help improve the eye sight. Initially you may find difficulty in using it and focus on the opaque surface, but once you get used to it, you find it very convenient and soothing.

I had not heard of these, so I did a little research. The claims for improvement of the eyesight seem impressive, though I was somewhat sceptical and unconvinced by the explanation. I have used pinhole cameras (cameras without any lens except a very small pinhole) and know the principles behind a narrow aperture. Of course, most of the sites one finds in a search are there to sell the glasses and it is somewhat hard to find any that are likely to be unbiased. Wikipedia notes, however that "Pinhole glasses have been marketed by various companies on the claim that—combined with certain eye exercises—they could permanently improve eyesight. These claims have been analyzed, but no scientific evidence has been found to support them, and the claims are no longer allowed to be made in the United States under the terms of a legal settlement with the Federal Trade Commission."
