My country is Philippines and "adobo" (either made of pork or chicken cooked with garlic, soy sauce and vinegar) is a viand we are known for. Then, I live in Antipolo (a city in Rizal) and our place is known for its cashew nuts.

Hi Bubbletush, I have had adobo made with pork, very tasty. We also love cashew nuts, are they just as expensive there as they are here? Here in Pennsylvania we are known for the Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, I think it is a little bland but still tasty. One of the dishes if fried cabbage and egg noodles, We love this. We are really known for the Philly Cheese Steak Hoggie. This is a favorite here, very thin sliced (chipped) steak fried with onions and a little tomato sauce added, placed in a large roll with melted cheese added to it. It can be a very sloppy sandwich but they say the sloppier the better. I grew up in Connecticut by the bay and there we were known for the small bay scallops. They were the most tender and tasty scallops around. Now I am getting hungry. Have a good day.

Here the Philly cheese steak is made with a tomato marinara sauce, however your version sounds great too. I just may make some with a mushroom sauce. We can get hole cashews for about $12 a pound or more, Cashew pieces are a little less per pound. They are worth the money, I love cashew butter too.

I always order Philly Cheese Steak whenever available here in the Philippines but I am not sure if it's the same as what you have here. It seems like here, they make the sandwich out of roast beef with mushroom gravy then smothered with melted cheese (or is the roast beef sandwich and the Philly cheese steak one and the same?) I guess cashew nuts (freshly roasted!) here in Antipolo is cheaper. I could buy 1 kilo of freshly roasted cashew nuts for only P250 pesos or $6.00

Hello bubbletush! I am from the Philippines too and I agree with you that we are known for chicken adobo. I would also say that we are known for balut which is considered exotic food here and to other country. I live here in Davao City so I guess we are known for Durian.
