How to get a higher rating?

How do I get a higher rating???
I'd like to be able to copy and paste things (like quotes and such) into my posts sometimes, and it gets annoying to have to type them out, especially longer quotes....
Any ideas? is it time related, or do other people give you ratings?

It is time related. The number with your user name in the bracket is your rating and it would increase with the number of responses you will make.
Now, it is showing to me as 8. that means you have responded eight times. To be able to copy and paste you need to atleast respond to 500 discussions.
