there are so many discussions have been started hourly that you can choose to respond. do you like to be the first to respond to a new discussion? or you prefer to wait after a few posts or after a few days?

Well I just look at the content of the discussion and I never thought about this, whether I am the first respondent or second or .... Only thing that I look for what the discussion is about... Happy mylotting...

that's the most important thing... the content of the discussion, what it's all about... other things are secondaries...:)

Hey there! I don't mind if I get to be the first responder or not. I'll respond to any discussion that I get interested to regardless of being first to respond or not. Have a nice day. Happy posting!!

Have never thought of it. I would if possible do not wish to be the first responder but sometimes I have no choice but to response to my friend who have not receive any response to his post after few hours of posting. So like it or not, I need to respond for friends sake even though I become the first responder.

Hi victorywp! That is so true! There are a lot of new discussions to respond to and choose from. However, I get to respond through email notifications and I would not really know if I am the first respondent or not. Anyway, it really does not matter to me if I am the first or if I am the last. All I am concern with is to catch up and be done with all the notifications in my inbox at the moment for they are really piling up each day. haha.. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

Well, I guess it doesn't matter as long as I just respond? I think more importantly is the person does reciprocate & reply back?

It is so much better to be the first respondent because you need not to worry about repeated answers. As much as possible I want my answers to be unique and it is easier if you get to respond first. Although, it is also a good thing to respond later and wait for other respondents so that you can read their comments, and assess if your opinions really matter relative to other opinions.

you said all the points out. either to be the first respondent or to respond later, you have all the supporting points. good answer!:)

I don't mind either way. If I am first I can say what I would have said without the fear of repeating others but if mine is not the first I usually respond anyway making sure what I have to add has not been said already. The important thing for me is to have fun, help out everyone who is trying hard and not repeat the same responses all over the place. That gets difficult at times too because, as you said, there are so many discussions being started and some are repetitive too. Happy Lotting!

If I'm first it's easier but not necceasarily is it the reason - could be that others are still sleeping as I'm in a different time zone

Hi there my friend. In general i don't mind being the first respondent to discussions but when it comes to money discussions that i do intend to answer, i like to wait for a few days just to make sure that it doesn't get deleted because of some other member that immediately decides to post his ref link in the topic.

hey elitess! finally i found someone who has the same opinion with me! i think exactly the same with you & so i came up with this discussion. why do you just appear after 63 responses? you might be given the best response, you know? LOL!

I have never thought about the same. I just respond to all the discussions which I like or can add some value. I think it is really nice if you be the first one to reply to someone's discussion. I think unintensionally I have done that quite a few times.

yes, it's really nice if you be the first to reply to someone's discussion! we might get a direct response from the person who started the discussion! also we stand a chance to have a litte chat there.:)

HI victorywp! Yes sometimes I like to be the first responder. There are times when I select the no responses tab and start giving respond to the discussions and a first responder. The first response is mostly read by many of us. So our post becomes of use. Else if we are posting at the very last, that can be no use than just for earning. Mostly only the discussion creator would read such answers, and the other users rarely read those answer no matter how qualitatively you have written it. But still there are questions that I feel like to answer. Then no matter that is older I would response. I hope though old, the discussion creator give time to read it. Happy mylotting...

you are right, nzalheart. if we are posting at the very last, only the discussion starter would read, while the others will rarely read the response we made. so we are unable to get good rating with the response since there will be only few to rate our response. you are saying a good point here.:)

no it depends on how interesting is the discussion if i find it very interesting then i will not mind being the first one to post for that discussion but if its not that interesting or i donot like the topic i go for another one.so its depends on what topic the discussion is all about then i go for the reply for that topic.

i understand your point. if we just reply for the sake of replying although the topic is boring for us, then we might get a very low rating in the end. have a nice day!

i have actually never thought about being a first respondent ./though i have been the first one to respond many times.for me the only thing that matters is that if i think i have an opinion i like to express it..mylot is a place where one can easily express the views.....

since i have other things to do, am a stay at home mom, i prefer to respond to discussions sent to me via email. so, that means i'm not always the first respondent. when i was new and still figuring out my way here i was always waiting for that new discussion. but sometimes it is quite frustrating since it takes a while for a new discussion to pop out.

It doesn't really matter either way for me. Though if it's something where someone needs help, then yeah. I guess, in a way, I do like being the first person to reply.

there are many advantages of being the first to respond. the one i like is that you have higher chances of getting reply from the starter which could make your respond to be a quality response.:)

yes, mood will change from time to time. earlier i have many ideas & passion to respond to any discussions. but now as the days passed by, i just select one or two discussions to respond to, still, most of the time i did not even respond to one. sadly to say...:(

i know what you mean. being the first respondent is great, however responding to a discussion of our interest should be greater. meaning that we should respond to a discussion that attracts us or that we could contribute to, instead of for the sake of responding just to be the first respondent, right?

I like being the first person some of the time when the person needs advice on something because then you know your response won't get buried among all the other responses. The rest of the time it's just nice to find discussions to contribute to and participate in since everyone is trying to make payout from month to month. I try to visit the profiles of people who respond to me and also the no response pages and often I am first because the no responses are new or no one has had anything to say yet.
