Do you prefer washing machine, given that it consumes more detergent and water?

Hello friends, I wanted to know your opinion about washing machines. No doubt we are in a world of comfort, where we can get everything done by the click of a button. However, technology does have its downside as well. For example, washing machines consume electricity, more water and more detergent than the normal hand wash. Researches have also shown that they tend to reduce the life span of clothes. On the other hand, they serve us with great comfort. So, what is your opinion about washing machines? Would you use them given all the pros and cons?

I have a high efficiency washer that uses very little water and very little detergent. I think that it cleans my clothes better than my old, agitator washer ever did. I only wash clothes by hand whern I have to. Ihave a big family and a lot of laudry to keep up with, not to mention all of the other responsibilities I have during my days.

Hello friend, good to read your opinion. given the responsibilities you have, it is nearly impossible for you to hand wash your clothes.

Technology have come up with the most innovative invention to ease the problem of washing cloths. It has become a necessity rather than a luxury to every household. I will not look back to hand wash my cloths now as I find the comfort of dumping all my soiled cloths in the machine and is done within few minutes. I don't care how much money I spend on detergents and paying electrical consumption on giving me the benefit of using washing machine as I can no longer afford to use my hands on the harsh chemicals in the detergent and waste my time and energy doing this most hated chores of washing cloths. I'll vouch for the beauty of having a washing machine. It is all I ask for all this while.

Thanks for the response, Zandi. I think it all depends on how much a family can afford to spend on electricity and detergents. I hope you never have to hand wash your clothes :)

washing machine - I love to use washing machine when it is very cold in winter, but in summer at all.
Hello jshekhar. In my family we don't use the washing machine for the laundry in summer. We prefer to wash our clothes in summer by hand, but we use it to do the laundry in cold winter when the water is freezing.

I prefer to wash clothes manually by hand, it is cleaner than washing machines. But when I am in a hurry, washing machine is okay.

Thank you for taking out the time to respond so quickly. I think we should revert to the old days of washing clothes manually as it would save us electricity, cost and we would also do a bit of physical exercise, which has become a rarity in this world where sedentary work has taken the preference and makes us prone to so many joint diseases.

Of course I would because the only other option would be hand washing ALL your clothes, which time consuming, tiring and not as effective as the washing machine is much more better than your hands. Happy mylotting
