CNN is selling this as hard as they can. Nationalizing the banks. They are even saying Greenspan suports it. Gee, greenspan was the one who helped get this into this mess. Do you really want to listen to him ? Tell me what you think? Should we be nationalizing the banks?

Lilwonders, This is yet another step being taken by this administration and his zombie mainstream media to put America on the fast track to socialism. Look at what he has done in less than one month of being president! He has pushed through congress the largest economic "recovery" plan in history which will in fact re-create the welfare state not to mention many other short comings this "stimulis" porkage has. By doing this, congress and the president have added over a trillion dollars to the national debt, IN LESS THAN ONE MONTH! This administration wants to politicize the national census, WHY? Now we hear rumblings of a nationallized banking system? This reminds me of the old Merle Haggard song about the snowball headed for hell, this country seems to be headed for that very kind of ride!

Hello Lilwonders, We all know the more obvious reasons why nationalizing industry is wholly unwise. However, I have to wonder how many have considered that IF we turn a blind eye to these nationalization goals, then there will no longer be any accountability. As it is now, in our capitalist economy, industry is at the mercy of government for licensure, regulatory compliance issues, essentially government has the power of oversight over all perceived abuses of the consumer. What happens when government is a stakeholder in industry? Who will then hold industry to account? Oh right, that would still be government, right. And, we all know how well the House and Senate regulate their own, huh? Let us consider a hypothetical: If gov't becomes a stakeholder in industry and thus dependent upon income from that industry, then what happens when that industry starts dumping toxic waste, or manufacturing toxic products? Can we honestly have a realistic expectation that government lackeys are going to bite their noses to spite their faces? I find that unfathomable. Instead, history shows that those beaurocratic lackeys will cover up whatever they have to to keep the income flowing. Just one more in a long line of reasons why the USSR failed and why the United States of Socialist America (USSA) should never be allowed to take root!

I agree. But CNN is selling it like there is not tomorrow as the best way to get over our economic problems fast. You and I know this is a lie. You and I know this is beyond a bad idea. But how many people just listen to them and now think this is a good idea?

Hello Lilwonders, You and I, and many, many others continue to discuss these issues in forums such as this. As long as we continue to provide a different perspective than CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS and the plethora of print media outlets, then we're doing our part. The alternative media has been so effective that it is now under attack from the left. That tells me that the left fears our sincere, committed efforts.

We already have Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac we may as well have the rest of them. If the Government would work in the best interest of the public it would be good for the people. In fact if the Government would control them right they should take over the auto makers too. After all we are paying these jerks to work for us and I think it's about time they started earning their wages. We can't turn control of anything like this over to the government until the people of this country control the government. The government must fear and respect the American people or they will never work in our best interest. The only way for us to put the fear of God into them and demand their respect is for the voters to get the right to vote them "OUT" of office. That way if they don't do their job send them packing.
