I don't really make a conscious effort of discriminating against either indie bands or major radio artists. As long as I enjoy the music they churn out, I listen to them. Although, I do have tendencies of searching out more for new indie bands to listen to instead of reading up on what the popular mainstream bands are now or what the #1 song on the charts are. Mostly because I think they tend to get really hyped up sometimes, just because of record sales or popularity, although there are so much more better bands out there. I'm not implying that all mainstream radio artists are bad though, just that you'll most likely hear about their new songs through the radio or blogs, and that for finding great new indie bands, you'll have to take a different, sometimes harder route. Which I don't really mind doing though, as long as I end up listening to great music.

It doesn't really matter. What matters to me is the quality of the music. Most major label bands have the backing of a powerful marketing machinery; hence their huge record sales. But there are very talented indie acts that are doing quite well on their own. And because they are indie, their art is not compromised by such concerns as marketability, mass appeal, etc, etc. Better yet, they get the royalties all to themselves. I guess before a band decides to go major label or indie, the members must talk amongst themselves to determine both their short-term and long-term goals. But I digress.
