As India set off on their tour of New Zealand, an attempt to tell the tale of India's
ODI performances in previous tours there in numbers:
One – Only one Indian bowler has managed to take five wickets in the 24 ODIs India has
played against New Zealand in New Zealand. Anil Kumble returned figures of 10-0-33-5 at
Wellington way back in March 1994. India won the ODI by 12 runs.
Two – Number of Indians who have managed to score a century in the 24 ODIs played there
. They are: Rahul Dravid – 123 not out at Taupo on January 9, 1999 and Virender Sehwag
who notched up two tons - 108 at Napier on December 29, 2002 and 112 at Auckland on
January 11, 2003.
Two - Number of times India has crossed the 250-run mark in the 24 ODIs. They made 257
for 5 at Taupo on January 9, 1999 in a match they lost by 5 wickets and 255 for 5 at
Wellington on March 30, 1994, a match they won by a slender margin of 12 runs.
2.38 – The average number of matches India's squad members have played in New Zealand.
Only five members have played there: Sachin Tendulkar (15 matches), Virender Sehwag,
Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan (7 each) and Harbhajan Singh (2).
Five – Number of matches that India lost in their first five outings against New
Zealand in New Zealand. Incidentally, India were also defeated in the same number of
ODIs in the last seven-match series played in New Zealand during the 2002-03 season.
Six – Number of times India have lost at least five matches in the bilateral series’
with the 2-5 defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the 2002-03 season being the last
instance. The other instances are: The 1-6 loss v West Indies in 1987-88; the 0-5 loss
v West Indies in 1983-84; the 1-5 loss v Pakistan in 1986-87 (all in India); the 0-5
loss v West Indies in 1988-89 and 2-5 v South Africa in 1992-93 (both away series).
29.17 – India’s success percentage against New Zealand in New Zealand. They have
managed to win just seven matches, lost 16 with one no-result game out in the 24 ODIs
they have played there.
108 – India’s lowest score against New Zealand in New Zealand. They were dismissed at
this score twice in a short span of six days - first at Auckland on December 26, 2002
and then at Christchurch on January 1, 2003, which they lost by three and five wickets
respectively."[/b]

That is really a nice piece information. I can remember last time when India toured NZ, they were beaten by 5-2 I believe(correct me if I am wrong). That time Ganguly was the leader of Indian team. Later that series, the performance in World cup 03 was superb and India managed to win 8 consecutive matches.
This shows how tough the tour of NZ is for India. Let's hope that Team in blue does well in this series!

Hello my dear sanuanu Ji,
So nice of you for encouraging team in blue. I also read in paper recently that it is
time for MS Dhouni to reply Saurav's defeat You are very right. But let me predict,
we will win series. I am not tossing. I am going as per natural laws, where Sun has to
break , after Night falls. may god bless and have a great time.

hi, i was looking to start a new discussion about it.but since a better one already here.according to the current icc rankings none of our bowlers are in the top 10. so, is a casue of worry though...but i think dhoni and the blue brigade will do their best to clinch the series.but its always been a difficult series in new zealand.
i think the keys to success aganist kiwis lies in our middle order.and the all rounders will have to perform well. we have had quite a bed experience in new zealand.the pitch has a crucial role there...
hope things will go as all most all cricket fans are looking forward to the series...

Hello my dear sunil_008 Ji,
I think, examinee should challange examiner, so is condition of our team, our team
should prove themselves under worst condition, then only real preparation for WC, could
be thought about. Let's all take challange. I am sure MS Dhouni can handle the situation
and prove like T-20. No body ever thought about Aussies being defaeted. Also, there is
always a hope. Well, I am positive thinker and one must fight with better ones (strongers)
and not weak ones. I am sure, our team would not leave any stone un-turned. may god bless
them and have a great time.
