Here in Norway these days we have a discussion concerning if police officers should wear hijab or other traditional outfits with their police uniform. It has cause a explosion of comments and discussions. Should the police uniform be religious? Should a uniform contain personal effects? What is your opinion about this case?

If the person's religion beliefs is wearing a hijab, then yes, they should be able to wear hijab at work. They should not be told no you can't. What the department can do, is have an official one they can purchase and use. This would be the only one they can wear. It would be smaller then normal and tucked in, so that way they won't get hurt and it won't get pulled by anything.

But why should the police wear religious outfits? I disagree with you here. I can't see the point of wearing hijab in the police service. I think it's a threat against civil rights that people should wear clothes that are religious. I think it's better if the police uniform is neutral, in most countries long hair amongst men are forbidden. Why should`nt hijab be so too?

Why does their uniform have to be religious if the people aren't? Are they not simply civil servants of the government doing their jobs? therefore aren't their jobs more related to the government and laws of the land rather than people's beliefs in God... also must say i've rarely ever heard of a muslim traditional dress as an official uniform, its a split infinitive of their purpose.

I agree. It should not have anything with religious views at all. I think if police should be neutral concerning peoples civil rights.
