I think nowadays, only few fall on the category of the former. Getting the job we want or chosing the career we love is a rough competition. We might want to be in a certain position or job we like, but because of unavailability or competition or considering the salary as well, it is quite hard to decide. Consequently, we find ourselves in a career or job we choose and end up loving it. As for me, I was in a job that I love, then because of some people, I have to give up. I tried another path which I think I would be loving it, but for some reasons again I have to go back and finish the career which I truly love. Every career path is a choice - you may love it and hate it. With our economic situation today and the status of unemployment, it is hard to be choosy and picky of a career or job. If we fell in a career that we do not love, we tend to learn to love it eventually because it is hard to be jobless and unemployed.

I love my job because like you, I somehow got into this and this has been giving me bread and butter for 10 years now. I really don’t know what I wanted to be…sometimes I think I wanted to be a teacher but that’s coz I want to stay at home for more time with my son and teaching jobs have more paid leaves than other jobs. However, as I said, I am into this for 10 years now and have got habituated with this job profile and this company.

Hello deepika_mona! I guess it really depends. Sometimes, other people would choose the career because they think that it would be the practical thing to do. I mean they choose it because they know that it's in demand and that they can have a job after graduation. In my case, I choose my profession because I love it. It's my interest. I remember when I was young, I used to act as a teacher to my childhood friends and I idolized my teachers. So when I finally gradiuated in college, I was torn between nursing or teaching course. Nursing course is the most practical thing to take because it's in demand to other country but then because teaching is on my heart, I finally decided to take teaching.

I think love the career you are in right now not merely a choice. For me, I always wanted to become a writer because it is only with that profession that I can find real fulfillment, but I ended up working as a secretary in a University and I really hate this but I have no choice because this is the only available job for me. But I am not enjoying what I am doing right now I am still hoping that someday there's an opportunity for me in the writing profession.

well, i must say that you must make some copromises too. When you are young you will pass through al lot of jobs, because you really need a job, to earn good money. But when you go to college, you already choose what do you want to do with your life. Until you`ll finish the college, you`ll work on a lot of jobs, but you`ll choose that one in what you made thouse studies. Sometimes, when you find a so good job, you will make all the possible to love that job, because it`s the best for you financial ..

I think it depends on the person, and how far that person is willing to go to achieve their dream job. I personally would rather choose a more "safe" job (such as an accountant, too) rather than a risky, "hit or miss" job like a fashion designer, only because that way I'll never really have to worry about finances. So, if you make enough to support yourself, and have a half-decent job, why not try to enjoy it a little? :)

You choose a career you love, and you work hard for it. But life isnt just abt work, work and work, You need to spend time with family, friends and do ur part for the society. If your career enables you to do all this without any strain, your lucky. It also depends on your priorities. Lots of women give up work or do work from home when they have children, bcos thats their priority. Children also need adult supervision at least until they are 13. In my case I chose a carrer I loved. But now I feel I dont love it. I feel I have to move ahead. Do something else. I have this feeling that life is too routine and predictable now.
