Does buying the best players mean your team will win?

I don't think just because a team can afford to go out and buy all the best players, that it means they will win a championship (like the Yankees or Redskins) I think you need to have a mixture of younger and veteran players. Too many high salary players means lots of egos. Anybody agree or disagree with that?

I would think so..but the chicago cubs had not the best players and they dropped to the very bottom of the totum pole!!..management and players both have something to do with it I say+

If you look at the teams like the Florida Marlins and Detroit Tigers, they did not have big payrolls but they have done very well. It is how your players work as a team and the effort they put in as well as management which determines if a team will do well.

It is not only the best parts that make the best product. How the team performs as a team, the quality of the leader, the willingness of the members to accept that leader, a good coach and of course that grand ole lady - luck, these things also have a major contribution to the way a team perfroms. So, yes I agree with you.

Thank you very much. I agree too with your comments. I hope my Philly teams will learn from how some of these other teams succeed and learn how to be more of a team.

I agree with you. Just because you buy the best doesn't guarantee that they will play like the best. Sometimes I don't understand why they would want to spend a bunch of money on one player when they could get two for the price of one (so to speak).
