Reconstituted some powdered milk a week ago, but it tasted funny

I reconstituted some powdered milk a week ago. Now usually when we buy two percent, there is a date stamp on the bottle or the carton, but with powdered milk there is not, since it does not have any water on it, yet. Two days ago, I wanted to drink some before bed as I have difficulty falling asleep. Usually I have yogurt with cereal and for a snack, but since there was a jar of milk decided to have that instead. (this is to ensure that I am not lactic intolerant in case someone asks the question. I just love yogurt.) Yet the milk tasted a little off, so I had to throw it down the sink. So the question is how long does reconstituted milk last after it is reconstituted?

I do use a bit in cooking. I hate drinking it straight myself, but I heard milk is good for you to make you sleepy and besides it is fat free so it does not hurt my diet.

I've had that happen to me, too. I only make a little at a time and if I want a glass and haven't made it and put it in the fridge to get cold, I just add a couple of ice cubes.

I would think about 3 days. That is how long I wait then toss it to the cat. Now I just make it by the glass fulls and drink it so that none is wasted. I love powdered milk better then the regular whole milk.

I think it's good for just a few days although I'm not positive. I usually use powdered milk mixed in reg. milk or for baking so it never sits in the fridge for more than a day.

It does not last a week not like the two percent kind we buy at Superstore.

I thought the dried milk went on forever, thats why it is so handy to have around. What about the sell by date on the pack sometimes it is on the bottom or the pack in little numbers,be careful you don't want an upset stomache.xx

Reconstituted powdered milk only lasts about 2-3 days once you have made it up. It isn't like regular milk that will keep for about a week or so. Once you open a tin of powdered milk, you need to use it within a few weeks, or it will go bad too. I lived off powdered milk when I first moved out of home, and found these things out the hard way. Positive thing from my experience, was having a fantastic project for our school science fair. i never knew you could get purple mold before that! lol.
